Europe SportsBlog

The latest from DODDs sports in Europe.

Welcome to the Europe Sportsblog

Well, it's finally happened. After all these years of your having to endure the way I
get to flap my gums in splendid isolation, it's now your turn.

This post opens a new European sports blog in Stars and Stripes, a place where you'll get your say about what's good, bad and indifferent on the European military and high school sports scenes. Don't let that stop you, however, from sounding off on whatever sports topic interests you. This is intended to be an open forum.

Open, but not uncivil. Sports bring out passion, but when you decide to blog, please be judicious in what you write. Blogging shouldn't be confused with venting, so don't attack officials, schools, teams or individuals just because you're sore about a loss or don't like the way the other team seems to win all the time. Keep to the facts, please. If you do, I guarantee that all the rest of us will learn something from what you say.

I'm going to start things off regularly with my own thoughts, but please don't wait for me. If there's something you'd like to see aired, feel free to step up to the plate and dig in. There are no brushback pitches here.

Guess it's a good idea to begin with an ending.

School's out, and that means the voting for the high school male and female athletes of the year has wound up, too.

But before the selections are announced, you might want to make your nominations for those who'll be the athletic valedictorians for the 2008-2009 school year.

Who impressed you the most? Tell us who and tell us why. It won't matter a whit in terms of arriving at the official choices, but it might be fun to try.

I yield the floor.

Thanks for the new venue!

Do you have an ETA on when the All-European teams will be announced for the Spring sports? Will it be before the male and female Athletes of the Year?

Male and Female athlete of the Year usually comes out in June.

Great Idea!

Summer may be a bit slow, but this should be fun!

Will the truth be put out ?

Good ole boy blog. Can tell by the people praising the idea. This is not anything new. Let others put out the truth and maybe you will get more support.

"The Truth"

I'd rather have "the truth" than support. How about providing us some?

Thanks

Rusty,

Thanks for the Blog. I look forward to things to come.

I also appreciate the "No Hate Zone".

James Panui former DODDS Player Top receiver in Arena Football

Please more stories on DODDS Athletes who have gone on to the next level in sports. Another athlete is Malcolm Lane who will be a senior this year at Univ of Hawaii. Other DODDS athletes need to know this.

FloridaFirecats.com: Profile of James Panui

Panui

Panui was an outstanding player at Hohenfels HS. I can still remember telling our 2001 punter not to kick the ball to Panui !!! He did not follow orders.... and we spent the next 15 seconds desperately trying to corral Mr. Panui.

Congratulations to him for his success in Arena football.

Malcolm Lane goes into Senior Year at Univ of Hawaii

Lane ends spring's final practice with exclamation point

By Jason Kaneshiro

Malcolm Lane just kept on running ... with a few dozen of his friends closing fast.

The Hawaii receiver capped the Warriors' final practice of the spring yesterday by hauling in a pass from Brent Rausch and sprinting to the end zone to close a 2-minute-drill period that served as a sneak preview of tomorrow's Warrior Bowl.

@thetruth: Thanks for posting that story. We can't have the complete text of someone else's content on our site. Give people the URL so the writer gets credit -- thanks!

Lane

Anyone who attended the 2005 Super 6 game that pitted Lane's Hanau squad squad against a super talented Bitburg squad can attest to the talent of Malcolm Lane. He was a one-man show and in a class by himself. Hanau had a solid team and an outstanding coach in Sam Cassou, but Bitburg, led by veteran super coach, Mike Laue, was loaded and might have had the best over-all talent at the SUPER 6 that year. Malcolm was amazing.

All of us are very proud of what Malcom has done at Hawaii !!

The term sports is sometimes extended to encompass all competitive activities in which offense and defense are played, regardless of the level of physical activity. Both games of skill and motor sport exhibit many of the characteristics of physical sports, such as skill, sportsmanship, and at the highest levels, even professional sponsorship associated with physical sports.

DODDS-EUROPE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR (MALE)

I want to say congratulation to my son Chris Frazier for being name DODDS-Europe Athlete of the year. What he did for the Heidelberg High School program in football, basketball and track for the last 3 years was amazing. The honors that you received made me and your mother very proud of what you did.

Heidelberg High, it will be very hard for the school to receive another kid with as much talent as Chris had in three sports so please join me in congratulating him and wishing him well in the future. I can not wait to see what you will do at the next level. Good luck at the AAU Basketball Nationals in Flordia later this month.

Frazier

I have had the opportunity to watch Chris play football, run track and play basketball for several years. He is an excellent athlete and a fine young man. All of us hope that he is very successful at the next level.

Congratulations, Chris!
