President’s Day Weekend travel ideas
Posted February 7th, 2008 by Karen BradburyAre you thinking that perhaps you’re too late in planning a last minute weekend getaway for the upcoming President’s Day weekend? Well, you’re none too early, but there are still some deals to be had. Here’s a sampling of what I found about one week prior to the upcoming long weekend:
Ameropa, a service provided by Deutsche Bahn, offers three nights in a 3-star hotel in Dresden and round-trip rail journeys for two adults from any major train station within Germany for 342 euros.
Weg shows a three-night stay in Mallorca’s town of S’Illot in a 2-star hotel for two persons coming in at 354 euros for two adults, airfare and half-pension included. Depart from Stuttgart on Air Berlin early Saturday morning on Feb. 16 and return late Tuesday evening on Feb. 19.
L’Tur offers a whirlwind trip to Nice, leaving on Sat., Feb. 16 from Munich and returning on Mon., Feb. 18. You’ll stay in a double room in an intermediate category hotel, breakfast included, for a total of 402 euros for the two of you.
Expedia will whisk you away from Munich to Istanbul, where you will stay in a 3-star hotel, breakfast included, for just 438 euros for two adults. Perfect for those who love to cut things close without taking time off, the flight departs Fri., Feb. 15 in the late evening, and gets you back home at the break of dawn Tuesday morning, Feb. 19.
Are your travel buddies otherwise occupied on these dates? Don’t let that keep you homebound. Odopo offers a trip from Frankfurt to Malta from Fri., Feb. 15 through Tues., Feb. 19 for 356 euros for a solo traveler, including 3-star hotel, breakfast and flights.
Alternately, singles could book through Start a four-day trip to Hammamet, Tunisia with departure out of Duesseldorf on Fri., Feb. 15 and return on Tues., Feb. 19 for 225 euros. The cost includes flights, 3-star hotel and half pension.
Surely there’s no guarantee that these deals will still be available by the time you get around to organizing and making a booking, but hop to it and you will probably find something comparable for you and yours.
