Spend a night in a tree
Posted March 20th, 2008 by Karen BradburyAs a kid, did you just love your treehouse? Aching to relive those happy youthful moments? Now you can, by booking a room in one of Germany’s treehouse hotels.
According to a press release, March 20 will see work begin on Lower Saxony’s Tree House hotel. Four units will be constructed, each with its own entryway, sleeping area, toilet, balcony and commanding view of the surrounding countryside of Weserbergland.
For details, see the Web site www.baumhaushotel-solling.de or call +49 (0)5571-91 93 05 or 0172-5619469.
Unusual as this may be, this is not Germany’s first treehouse hotel. According to an article of the international broadcasting service Deutsche Welle, Tree House Experience in Zentendorf, the "Kulturinsel Einsiedel" in far eastern Germany, near the Polish border, is an alternative adventure park and home to the country’s first treehouse hotel. Costs for a family of four begin at 213.50 euros and include park entry, parking fees and breakfast.

15 Min from Ex-Hahn Air Base!
My husband and I couldn't believe it. Only 15 min from Hahn Airport (ex-Air Force Airbase) was liquid heaven!
Hotel Mosel-Schloesschen offered us their "Festival fuer Zwei" (Festival for Two) for our anniversary. Not only is the area breathtaking, it is very close to Kaiserslautern/Heidelberg/Mannheim. Hotel Mosel-Schloesschen helped us celebrate our 20th anniversary with a welcome cocktail, an overnight with a glorious view of the Mosel River, candle light dinner for two, breakfast in bed, bathrobes on loan, use of the sauna, and free parking for a total of 150 Euros p.p. We decided to stay an extra night for only 55 Euros p.p. This location should have been found by Hollywood! We walked to feed the swans on the banks, rented bikes to the next town where we had a fabulous local dinner and decided to buy wine from a local vendor who gave "free wine tastings." The whole town of Traben-Trarbach is one big wine manufacturing town. Great sweet whites or Rieslings for next to nothing. We paid less that $5 per liter for our Riesling that we brought back with us. The next day, we hiked up the mountain sitting in Traben-Trarbach to snack 1,000 meters above the town in Starkenburg.
Sunday, we took a boat trip that stops just a few meters from the hotel and visited Bernkastell for just a few Euros. I can only give a thousand stars to this hotel and their staff. They offer this package for one overnight anyone looking to renew their vows or making their first. TEL 06541-8320 (www.moselschloesschen.de) and yes, they speak English and take credit cards. Mention "MIL" discount for Military Discounts and they'll give you the great prices mentioned above for their "Festival for Two". As for my husband and I, we will be back.
