Star gazing in Europe
Posted October 4th, 2007 by Karen BradburyAre you one to get a thrill out of seeing a real-live celebrity or otherwise famous person? If so, here are a few events coming up that could give you a chance to do some star-spotting.
Sport:
NBA fans might want to try for a glimpse of those players on teams participating in the NBA Europe Live Tour. The Minnesota Timberwolves play in Istanbul on Oct. 6, which is the same day The Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics will battle it out in Rome. On Oct. 9, the Memphis Grizzlies will play in Malaga, Spain; Oct. 10 sees a sold-out game take place between the Celtics and the Timberwolves in London; and on Oct. 11, both the Grizzlies and Raptors will take on local teams in Madrid.
Music:
On Nov. 1, Munich’s Olympiahalle will serve as the venue for the MTV Europe Music Awards 2007. Snoop Dogg will play host to the event. Acts confirmed to perform at the ceremony include Foo Fighters and Mika.
Film:
The city of Görlitz, Germany, close to the Polish border, is serving as the backdrop for the filming of “The Reader,” starring Nicole Kidman and Ralph Fiennes. Kidman is expected to roll into town not earlier than December of this year. See Expatica’s “Goerlitz the backdrop for Nicole Kidman film” for more on this topic.
