The big story of Sunday was the Browns upset win over the Bengals, but from a fantasy standpoint Cincinnati QB Carson Palmer grabbed the headlines.
His 401 yards passing, 6 TDs, 2 interceptions and 10 rushing yards translated into 41.2 fantasy points based on traditional scoring leagues (50 passing/10 rushing/10 receiving per point, 6 points per TD, -2 points for turnovers). That's the top scorer so far this year, and the kind or territory usually reserved for LaDanian Tomlinson during his four-TD binges.
So how good was Palmer on Sunday? Here are some comparisons:
-- He alone had more fantasy points than all of the NFC West QBs combined: Rams QB Marc Bulger (11.4), Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck (10.2), Cardinals QB Matt Leinart (9.6) and Niners QB Alex Smith (0.4) combined for 31.6 points.
-- He alone outscored the Chargers' big three of QB Phillip Rivers (10.8), RB LaDanian Tomlinson (9.8) and TE Antonio Gates (13.7) by nearly a touchdown ... with the extra point.
-- He alone more than doubled the Manning brothers; Colts QB Peyton had 10 points, and Giants QB Eli had 8.22 points.
-- He had nearly four times as many points Sunday as Saints QB Drew Brees has collected all year (10.6).
So I hope you started him on your squad.
