Mid-season awards, teams

Here's who Stripes picked as their biggest team surprises and dissapointments of the first half of the NFL season. Disagree? Sound off in the comments below.

Biggest surprises, teams

1 – New England Patriots: You knew they’d be good, but not mentioned among the all-time best. (or the colts, obviously)

2 – Detroit Lions: QB John Kitna’s preseason 10-win prediction doesn’t look ridiculous anymore.

3 – The AFC South: They could have three playoff teams by year’s end.

4 – New York Giants: After two bad losses, they’ve reeled off six straight wins.

5 – Cleveland Browns: Already at five wins after four all of last year.

Biggest disappointments, teams

1 – Chicago Bears: They went from the Super Bowl to battling for last place in the NFC North.

2 – St. Louis Rams: A preseason playoff pick. Will they win a game?

3 – Miami Dolphins: They might be worse than the Rams.

4 – New York Jets: Last year they were 10-6. This year they already have eight losses.

5 – Cincinnati Bengals: Their only win in the last two months came against the Jets.
