Waiver Wire, week 1

After Sunday’s action, here are more waiver wire pick-ups you should be looking for:

Chris Brown, RB, Tennessee

Owned in 31.1 percent of ESPN.com fantasy leagues

In case you missed it, his 175-yard rushing performance on Sunday was the big reason the Titans scored an opening day upset over the Jaguars. The coaching staff has said that Brown and LenDale White will continue to split carries, but stashing Brown on your bench could prove valuable later.

Brandon Marshall, WR, Denver

Owned in 25.8 percent of ESPN.com fantasy leagues

Marshall was the only Denver wideout to grab a TD in Sunday’s 300-plus-yard passing performance by Jay Cutler. He’s third on the depth chart, but early on it seems as if there are plenty of catches to go around in that offense.

Eric Johnson, TE, New Orleans

Owned in 3.5 percent of ESPN.com fantasy leagues

Johnson’s stats this week – eight catches for 57 yards – are likely more a reflection of the Saints offensive struggles on Thursday than a new tight-end-heavy game plan. But clearly Drew Brees is looking in his direction, and in point-per-reception leagues he’s worth consideration.

Derrick Ward, RB, New York Giants

Owned in 0.1 percent of ESPN.com fantasy leagues

By now, that “percent owned” stat has gone way up; Ward got the majority of carries Sunday night after Giants RB Bandon Jacobs went down with a knee sprain. Fantasy owners had penciled in Ruben Droughns as the #2 back there, but he touched the ball just once in Sunday night’s loss.

What do you think? Any other sleepers or gems out there that military fantasy owners should know about? Let us know.
