Mid-season awards, players

Here's who Stripes picked as their biggest individual player surprises and dissapointments of the first half of the NFL season. Disagree? Sound off in the comments below.

Biggest surprises, players

1 – Anyone on the Patriots offense: All 11 may make the Pro-Bowl.

No Midweek NFL viewing!

Blame the NBA -- AFN sports will be covering the tip-off to the pro-basketball season instead of showing NFL Replay this week. That's a disappointment to all of you hoping to watch the numerous highlights from the Redskins/Patriots game.

OK, so unless you're a Patriots fan there weren't any highlights from that game. But if you have a decent internet connection, you can watch some of the top plays at the official NFL site here.

Biggest NFL disappointment?

I'm going to be putting a NFL mid-season review in our sports section in the coming weeks. Here's your chance to help me write it -- let me know what team/coach/player has been the biggest disappointment so far this year and which team/coach/player has been the biggest surprise.

If I get enough, I'll see if we can run the best comments with the story.

So have at it. The Patriots? The Saints? The fact that Fred Taylor is still somehow playing in this league? Let me know.

AFN Sports just announced its NFL Replay schedule for the week:

Wednesday

Game 1 -- Ravens at Bills

(2 p.m. Berlin time, 4 p.m. Baghdad, 4:30 p.m. Kabul, 9 p.m. Tokyo)

Buffalo rookies Trent Edwards and Marshawn Lynch weren't dominant but did just enough to upset the visiting Batlimore squad, whose offense was shut out in the first half.

Game 2

(3:30 p.m. Berlin time, 5:30 p.m. Baghdad, 6 p.m. Kabul, 10:30 p.m. Tokyo)

Titans at Texans

AFN Sports switched up the times for its highlight shows this week because of the baseball playoffs, so set your VCRs accordingly. Here’s what they’ll be showing:

Wednesday

Game 1 -- Dolphins at Browns

Twisting the knife

Just for fun (or maybe because misery loves company) here's a quick look at who the Yahoo fantasy football experts ranked as the best picks at their position in the beginning of the year, and who is actually averaging the most points per game so far this season:

QBs (1 pt for 40 yd pass, 6 per TD, -2 per INT, 1 pt per 10 yd rush)

Projected

#1 Peyton Manning

#2 Carson Palmer

#3 Drew Brees

No week off in fantasy

As you try to piece together your fantasy lineup this week, remember: You are not alone. The injuries to running backs and quarterbacks combined with the Week 6 bye that has six teams sitting out (Six teams with a top rusher, no less) is leaving everyone grasping for help.
