All call for seniors: Where will you be next fall?
Posted June 1st, 2008 by Dave OrnauerConsider this a sort of a guest book in reverse.
To all seniors in the region: Now that you're leaving, and we will miss you, how about letting SportsBlog Nation know where you're going to be next fall?
Your name, name of university or college and mascot.
And shout it out, loud and proud! :)
Examples:
HOOK 'EM HORNS! (Texas).
GO BIG RED! (Nebraska).
ROLL, TIDE! ROLL! (Alabama).
And good luck wherever you're headed and in all your endeavours. :)

Zach Latimore, Edgren High

HAIL PITT !!!!!!
Pitt Panthers
Ahh, the old home of NCAA rushing cham-peen Tony Dorsett and quarterback Matt Cavanaugh. Bring back the Pitt-PSU rivalry, it says here. Best of luck to you, Zach! Enjoyed watching you play. :)
GO HUSKIES!
Michael Fulwiler, University of Washington. Hoping to wear the purple and gold on the diamond next season.
Re: GO HUSKIES!
Which would put Mike alongside such UW luminaries as:
-- Actors Bruce Lee, Patrick Duffy (no relation to the Kubasaki player), Robb Weller and Ranin Wilson.
-- Actresses Dyan Cannon, Pamela Reed, Dawn Wells (Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island) and Julia Sweeney (of Saturday Night Live).
-- Astronauts Michael Anderson, John Fabain, Dick Gordon and Bonnie Dunbar.
-- Martial arts superstar Bob Sapp (a legend in Japan).
-- NBA-ers Detlef Schrempf, Uwe Blab, Brandon Roy, Nate Robinson and James Edwards.
-- Pro football Hall of Famer Warren Moon, who once held the career passing yardage and touchdown records for quarterbacks who played in both the CFL and NFL.
-- Politicians Henry "Scoop" Jackson, Thomas Foley and others.
-- Bill Gates' parents, William and Mary.
Google it if you wanna be sure. :)
One more...
Don't forget Tim Lincecum, the pride of Husky Baseball! He won the Golden Spikes award in 2006 and was selected 10th overall by the Giants that year. What an awesome delivery he has...topping 100 mph with only a 5'11" 170ish pound frame.
He's already 7-1 this season with 78 strikeouts in 76 innings. Looking forward to him having a great season.
Re: One more...
Although I be a fan of the ancients, one can't help but admire the success thus far of Lincecum, who very easily could lead a pitching revolution by the bay, with the likes of Matt Cain part of that ride.
Louisburg JC
Anthony McNeill will attend louisburg JC in North Carolina. Same college as former star Ted Awana from Kadena. He plans on playing football and transfer after to either a D2 or D1 school.
Re: Louisburg JC
Step up! Home of the HURRICANES!
Disappointed in Dave
Dave,
In your joy of Pitt football, who is Matt Cavanaugh? I think you forgot to mention the greatest quarterback in the history of football, Daniel Constantine Marino. Shame, shame Mr. O.
Re: Disappointed in Dave
Well ... if I wanted to mention the greatest quarterback in football history, I would have noted Johnny Unitas, born in Pittsburgh and drafted by the Steelers in the ninth round of the 1955 draft before being picked up by the Colts.
Good catch, EMajorwitz.
History has changed, gentlemen...
I've never chimed in on the blog....until now...cheeseheads unite!
I believe you have to admit that Brett Favre is now the greatest QB of all time...you can argue that other QB's are BOAT..., but it would only be due to sentimentality...
Starts, wins, completions, TD's, MVP's, toughness, leadership, love of the game, plays with joy, plays jokes on team mates...etc etc....
A player's player...
Re: History has changed, gentlemen...
Guys:
No question, Favre is on my top 10 of all time.
Unitas will forever remain my all-time No. 1.
Favre had his offense designed by computers and coordinators.
Unitas drew his plays in the dirt, evident by any walk over the field after any Sunday at Memorial Stadium in any autumn.
I'll take him. :)
Staying on topic ... Where will she be next fall?
Cheese to Hawaii...
University of Hawaii-Hilo...she wants to be a PE Teacher and a Dodds coach...
Brett also drew plays in the dirt...I have pictures of it...
Old School...
You gotta love the black high-tops, so I can't argue that one...
Unitas was of the same breed as Favre...or, more appropriately and respectfully, Favre is of the same ilk as Unitas was...I do like the whole concept of "3 yards and cloud of dust..."
where is PTL62 in all of this?
Trinity Tigers Baseball
Tristan Heckerl will be playing ball for the Trinity University Tigers, San Antonio, Texas.
Trinity finished #22 in the national DIII poll at d3baseball.com. One TU pitcher was just drafted by the Brewers, and another is off to Peoria, AZ to join the Mariners rookie club. A third pitcher was in line to be drafted, but an injury early this season kept him out. They have a group of kids playing around the country in the collegiate summer wood bat leagues.
It will be quite a new experience, but he's excited for the opportunity to take his game up a couple of notches.
I think it's just..........."GO TIGERS!!"
Re: Trinity Tigers baseball
Just FYI to all, that's not to be confused with Trinity College of Hartford, Conn., which won the D-III national championship last month by beating Johns Hopkins 5-4 at Appleton, Wis.
Let's see if the Tigers can one-up the Bantams, with Heckerl throwing his serious heat and that 12-6 curve ball, and keep the D-III title within the Trinity family, only this time ... Texas style. :)
TU will be returning its
TU will be returning its entire starting nine, so plenty of offensive firepower again for '09. And if the one LHP decides to return to Trinity instead of signing with the Brewers, they will certainly be favored to win the SCAC and could go deep into tournament play.
Not sure if a freshman pitcher will have much impact, but he'll sure do his best. Sadly, I won't get to watch any more games!
Re: TU will be returning its
ESPN was pretty good about showing highlights of Trinity College's D-III title run. I'm sure they'll be just as good about keeping us abreast of the Tigers' title shot next spring. :)
Add one more drafted TU alum
Add one more drafted TU alum - Chuck Huggins, who pitched for Trinity earlier in his career, picked up by Toronto.
Drafted non-pitchers: Nick Vera (Cardinals 2007) and Jason Armstrong (Blue Jays 2004).
In reference to a prior post, I'll add that Tim Lincecum is one of my favorite pitchers to watch.....and so young! I also like watching Kazmir. These young guys just coming out of their school days (add Andrew Miller) are really making a strong showing.
Casey Peterson - ICS-P
Casey Peterson, ICS-Pyeongtaek '08, will be attending Missouri Baptist Univ. (NAIA) in the Fall where he will play for the Spartan Men's Volleyball team. He was offered both an academic AND an athletic scholarship; he accepted the academic one and is excited about starting the next chapter in his life. Although Casey did not have the benefit of high-profile teams and Far-East appearances, his work ethic and athleticism will no doubt serve him well...Congratulations, Casey and good luck!
TJ Sloan
TJ Sloan
will be attending Liberty University with plans of playing football and pusuing a Law degree.
Go Mocs!!!
Colton Sadler, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. No Men's soccer team but they do have a club team which i will be trying out for. I'm Hoping to transfer to a school with soccer though as soon as possible. If anyone knows of a coach who is looking for a defender who can throw it in just a little ways please let me know haha. Thanks for great times in football and soccer. Great way to go out!
