Fearless Football Forecast, Week 3
Posted September 11th, 2007 by Dave OrnauerThat Guam High stubbed its toe against one of the top teams in the Independent Interscholastic Athletic Association of Guam may have been expected. But not the fireworks of one Kinnick junior tailback Tyree Hunt, who singlehandedly torched Zama American and left me with a 4-2 mark last week. That's 8-3 on the season, 72.7 percent.
Here we go with Week 3:
Friday
Japan
Nile C. Kinnick at Yokota, 7 p.m. -- Can Hunt be just as prolific against the eight-time Japan Football League and Kanto Plain Association of Secondary Schools champion Panthers? Sure makes for an interesting showdown, Hunt vs. Yokota's Anthony McNeill, Tony Presnell, DeEric Harvin and Co. ... Yokota 18, Nile C. Kinnick 14.
Robert D. Edgren at Zama American, 7 p.m. -- If the right hand don't get you, the left one will. Hunt did a number on the Trojans on Monday; will the Eagles' super senior Zach Latimore do the same? Or will Zama rebound for its first win of the season? ... Robert D. Edgren 17, Zama American 10.
Korea
Seoul American at Taegu American, 6 p.m. -- First road game for Falcons this season; same result as all others dating back to 2003. But good firetesting for the host Warriors in preparing for big battle on Sept. 21 against Osan American ... Seoul American 22, Taegu American 10.
Guam
Simon Sanchez at John F. Kennedy, 7 p.m. -- Not since the mid-1990s have the Sharks been swimming in such heady waters. They'll keep at least a share of the league lead at week's end. ... Simon Sanchez 21, John F. Kennedy 11.
Saturday
Guam
Guam High at Southern, 10 a.m. -- One of those rare day games, and a chance for the Panthers to rebound smartly, as Kinnick did on Monday. Paul Craimins and his chief target Chris Brown will do just that. ... Guam High 19, Southern 12.
Father Duenas Memorial at George Washington, 7 p.m. -- First chance for the Friars to begin the end of the Geckos' "Purple Reign" that's lasted four seasons. And on the purple-and-gold's home turf, at that. ... Father Duenas Memorial 17, George Washington 15.
What are your picks? Let's hear it! And remember, you've entered THE "no-hate zone." :)

Fearless Football Forecast, Week 3
My pickes are:
Japan:
Kinnick over Yokota
Robert D. Edgren over Zama American
Korea:
Seoul American over Daegu American
Guam:
Simon Sanchez over John F. Kennedy
Guam High over Southern
George Washington over Father Duenas Memorial
My picks Are
Japan:
Yokota over Kinnick............Yokota has too many weapons on offense and can be deadly through the air and the ground..
Edgren over Zama...........Edgren has Zach Latamore...what more should I say?
Korea:
Seoul over Daegu.............Defending Champions looked pretty impressive last week. The O was clicking on all cylinders and the D pitched a shut-out until coach benched the starters mid way through the 3rd.
Guam:
Simon Sanchez over JFK.........The sharks are top of the Guam league
Guam High over Southern............Offensive powerhouse against the worst team in the league...
George Washington over Father Duenas.................Purple and Gold all the way...that lost to Sanchez was a wake up call for them..WATCH OUT GUAM!
Great Format
Great way to talk about Pacific Football, and all sports. I completely forgot about the blog Dave...with the girls and all now. Look for McNeill to have a break-out game this week, and don't forget Yokota's other backfield weapon Rainey Dailey.
Seoul over Taegu?
To say that Seoul has the advantage over Taegu is unfair to Taegu, and it’s relative to boys volleyball. It was said that Seoul had the advantage over Taegu, who went 0-15 last year, but in the end Taegu came out with the victor in 4 sets, 3 to Taegu 1 to Seoul. The relativity to football and volleyball is the coaches this year and the new players coming in, and the old players stepping up to the game. This year Taegu has the privilege to play under coaches such as Mike Miano, who was an NFL player for the Chicago Bears. Also there are new players coming in such as senior Clinton Kim who is dominating through the line, or Antonio Harris who is a strong and very fast runner, and the old players stepping up their game such as Sam Davis and Jeff Wottonick. So to say that Seoul has the advantage is unfair, and in my opinion rash, and un-understanding. However we will watch the game tomorrow.
"So to say that Seoul has the advantage is unfair..."
"So to say that Seoul has the advantage is unfair, and in my opinion rash, and un-understanding.".... and,
"To say that Seoul has the advantage over Taegu is unfair to Taegu."
Where did that come from? Nobody made blog posts such as those on this web blog. Don't foget, it's now Daegu and not Taegu.
Keep it on topic, y'all
Just a friendly reminder, let's keep it on topic, let's keep it friendly, let's keep it real. The thread's all about fearless football forecasting. Remember, you've entered THE "no-hate zone." :)
Friday results at Yokota
Don't know about the rest of the games - but at Yokota - it was:
Yokota 28
Kinnick 7
Keep it on topic
All:
Comments regarding the refereeing situation in the Pacific have been removed, when the discussion bled over into accusations of on-field conduct of games. The topic of the thread was about predicting the final scores and outcomes of games. Please stay on topic. Thank you, all, and remember, you've entered THE "no-hate zone." *smile*
