Fearless Football Forecast, Week 8

Only one berth left to be decided in the Far East playoffs that start Nov. 3. A 6-1 week left Ornauer at 34-8, 81 percent for the season. The lone blotch on the ledger -- Kadena's 45-0 shutout of Kubasaki in Game 1 of the Okinawa Activities Council's best-of-three series. A Kadena victory Friday would seal that last outstanding playoff bid.

Here we go with Week 8:

Friday
Okinawa
Kubasaki vs. Kadena at McDonald Stadium, Risner Fitness & Sports Complex, Kadena Air Base, 7 p.m. -- Unless the visiting Dragons can somehow get their injured skills-positions people healthy and the chemistry right, Ernest Carr, Roosevelt Payne and the host Panthers should enjoy a very happy homecoming ... Kadena 22, Kubasaki 8.
Japan
Robert D. Edgren at Yokota, 7 p.m. -- This is no gimme for the Panthers, not the way their defense has been cracked for six touchdowns the last two games. And the visiting Eagles have revenge on their minds, after losing 13-12 to Yokota at home last month. ... Yokota 16, Robert D. Edgren 12.
American School In Japan at Zama American, 7 p.m. -- A heartbreaking one-point loss to Edgren in double-overtime Saturday at Mustang Valley showed ASIJ is alive, but will that translate to victory over the Trojans? ... Zama American 14, American School In Japan 11.
Guam
Father Duenas Memorial at George Washington, 7 p.m. -- The host Geckos have won five straight. That comes to an end against the Friars team the Geckos have beaten the last four years for the league title. ... Father Duenas Memorial 20, George Washington 15.

Saturday
South Korea
Osan American at Seoul American, 2 p.m. -- Host Falcons should get more of a battle than people think, and the sort of tuneup Seoul American might relish going into their Class AA semifinal trip to Okinawa. Cougars are a proud lot and could very well be emboldened by losing to Taegu American by just two points last week ... Seoul American 18, Osan American 13.
Guam
Southern vs. Guam High at Blue Jacket Field, Naval Station "Big Navy," 7 p.m. -- Homecoming should prove to be a happy one for the Panthers, who will pull even at 4-4 against the league's bottom-feeding Dolphins ... Guam High 17, Southern 10.
Simon Sanchez at John F. Kennedy, 7 p.m. -- Visiting Sharks could give the Panthers a helping hand, handing the Islanders their sixth loss and helping Guam High seal fourth place and an Interscholastic Football League playoff berth ... Simon Sanchez 19, John F. Kennedy 9.

What are your picks? Shout it out! Come on strong! And remember ... you have entered THE "No-Hate Zone." *smile*

Yokota 22 Edgren 21 / Zama 7 ASIJ 8

Edgren wants revenge... not just for last month but all the times they embarrased us even dating back to 3 years ago when i played for the eagles.. 56-0 scores and stuff, so i think they will pull a heart stopper at Bonk field.

ASIJ is ready for a victory after being 0-4 there ready, zama seems to be falling down after continuous losses.

Yokota Over Misawa/Kadena Clinches Berth

Yokota defense is goin to step up. They cant let latimore get loose. The defense wins this for the panthers

As for the other panthers they are goin to walk over kubasaki and get ready for seoul

One for the home team

As much as Misawa wants revenge; so do Yokota. I think the game will get away from Misawa in the 3rd quarter. With the focus being on McNeill and Presnell; Seward and Harvin is going to have a nice match up against Misawa. The defense will prevail in this one and the offense of Yokota is going to put on a show for the home crowd.

Kadena will win thier homecoming against Kubaski: 36 /7

ASIJ will upset Zama on their homecoming: 14/7

Yokota over Edgren... Edgren

Yokota over Edgren... Edgren is gonna have to step up their game from last week.. it'll be a close game with both teams having great ball carriers but we (Yokota) have to much heart to lose to the eagles... 22-15

Kadena over Kubasaki... with three of their best players gone what can kubasaki do?

Okinawa: Kadena over

Okinawa:

Kadena over Kubasaki..............Kubsaki have to many injuries..Kadena is at home too....looks like another Seoul- Kadena match-up.

Japan:

Yokota over Edgren............I think this will be a close game, Edgren has been waiting for this rematch for a while, now its here, but Mcneil and company will make sure the upset wont happen happen.

Zama over ASIJ.............Dont know much about these two teams but i do know ASIJ is winless and they will stay that way.

Korea:

Seoul over Osan............Seoul's Homecoming....Burns and the offense will get things going this week.....Falcons have the best D in the pacific.....another shut-out win for the Falcons......

Guam:

Gw over Father Duenas...........Geckos still the the best in Guam and will win the Guam title.....

Guam High over Southern...........Guam High will win this game...still overated in my book, but i guess we'll see on Nov 3. when they play Yokota...

Yokoka/Edgren

Edgren Alumni. Three years ago i played for the panthers. We never wanted to embarrass anybody. We would take the starters out and our second string would be scoring. What could we do? As for now i think it will be the same way. Yokota's offense hasnt been stopped in years. I think it will be the same way. McNeill, Presnell, Sewerd, Harvin, Byrnes too many weapons for Yokota. On the other hand Edgren has weapons of their own. Just not enough this time around. A great show will be put on when the Panthers and Eagles meet on Legendary Bonk Field

Its gut check time for Kubasaki. Their hearts will show up but the talent pool will not. This new kid from Kadena sounds pretty good. Will he come through again and fill the shoes of past Kadena running backs.
Kadena 49 Kubasaki 21

yeah

it wasnt a fact of trying to embarrass us how were we suppose to holdour ground we only had like 16 players!!! haha

Edgren Alumni

Do you mind me asking what position you played for the eagles? I have a feeling we know eachother

TE/ DE

i played tight end and defensive end... how about you?

RB/SS

I wore number 32 and played SS and RB. I am pretty good friends with Terry Ashton and Jeff Fotokis

Kadena over Kubasaki

This could be it for Kubasaki... with the injuries that were obtained at yokota Kadena might repeat as Okinawa Champions

zama football

zama football will destroy asij on friday.
It is a homecoming game and those boys will be excited to play.

Zama

Zama will play well. Their new coach knows his stuff and has done a great job building the program up and doing it PROPERLY. I expect them to be serious contenders next year or the one after. Congrats to all the Zamanians, keep it going and good luck this weekend.

since were giving a coach shout out...

coach chris waite, has done a fantastic job bringing the eagles up from a triumph of deficiets, so mad props to the eagles, tim pujol is a fantastic coach, i played teams he coached and as long as he is there i dont think yokota will be beaten.

Yokota fan, but agree

Coach Waite and the Eagles have put themselves on the FB map over the last 2 seasons, and to see where they have come from in such a short time is exciting, and has been great for Eagle FB and the entire Edgren HS sports program. Keep up the good work Coach Waite...and good luck in Daegu.

Congrats on the "W" against ASIJ

Coach Merrell, I fully agree and want to congratulate you on a fantastic season. I also expect that Kanto football will be more competetive with you at the helm of the Trojans.

Yokota Vs. Misawa

Looks like alotta people were proven wrong... Yokota 34 Misawa 14... defense stepped up for the most part... gave up a couple big plays and offense kept up momentum with 5-10 yard carries for first downs...

Even though it was 24-0..it

Even though it was 24-0..it was a very ugly win; to many penalties...yeah we did have three touchdowns called back.. our D was very solid........and we're ready for Kadena

Far East Playoff's

I know there are games this weekend, but the Far East match-up's have been determined. Who has the edge in the Class A championship and the Class AA semi-finals?

Dave.......you probably know the most about each team in the playoffs, so why don't you break them down for us team against team; position against position and who the edge goes to for each position and then overall who gets the nod for the win?

It should be fun.

Kadena Homecomming

Kadena played a pretty good game on their homecomming night. The next game (Seoul American vs. Kadena) is the match-up we've been waiting for. Kadena is ready this year.
