Friday football lookback: New stars emerge

Running back/cornerback/kick returner Johnell Alexander is quickly making people forget Robert D. Edgren's "Fantastic Four" of last year. The senior ran 23 times for 150 yards and three touchdowns and returned a kick 80 yards for a score as the Eagles won 32-13 Friday at Zama American.

As for Yokota's 35-0, lightning-shortened win at Nile C. Kinnick, take your pick of successors to Anthony McNeill. Sophomore Derick "Rookie" Seward with his 153 yards, including an 81-yard touchdown scamper? Or Junior Andy Silva, with his two blocked punts and a touchdown catch?

The Panthers and Eagles trade opponents and play their home openers next Friday, Zama at Yokota and Kinnick at Edgren.

Yokota vs. Kinnick

So how did Tony for Yokota do?

Re: Yokota vs. Kinnick

Tony Presnell ran 16 times for 52 yards, scored twice, intercepted a pass and ran two returns for 44 yards. 96 all-purpose yards.

Congrats!!!!

congratulations 2 edgren maybe we'll go 2 beat yokota this year juss wish i wuz there 4 it

Ditto!

Ditto!

Edgren Win

Showcase indeed...Alexander actually scored all 5 of the Eagles touchdowns (4 rushing and 1 kick return).

Kudos to Alexander

Way to show up and lead the team to V-I-C-T-O-RY!

We in Eagles Nation are PROUD of you!

Edgren

Please...enough about the "Fantastic Four", yea they were good but lets move on, this year's version won't loose 3 games!

Eagles Victory

Agree. That needs to be let go. The kids we have now are tough and ready to take on anyone. Defense is ready and offense is doing great. This program led by Coach Waite is ready to take on all. The JV also was victorious as well, scoring 13 unanswered points in the second half of the football game as it was called due to "light problems" to win 13-12. It was an Edgren sweep at Zama just like it will be this weekend when Kinnick comes to town.

Edgren: Take 2

I am all for moving past the "Fantastic Four." However, let's not be coy. The "four"
played their roles and put Edgren in the glory seat. Furthermore, they had a hand in motivating the current squad! I agree it's time to let them go and to wish them well in their current endeavors, but let's not be so disrespectful to the body of work they crafted.

Go Eagles!

Kinnicks JV was looking

Kinnicks JV was looking pretty good, don't expect it to be a sweep for sure, and the Varsity game will be pretty close for what i've seen and heard

Kinnick JV

Our team is ready for the challenge. Ready to see some good high school football. Looking forward to the game, will you be in attendance?

Edgren Overated

Edgren might of beat zama and this character john alexander might of scored of 4 tds but this kid is not nice at all. I played agaisnt him before i know. When yokota plays edgren everybody will see that yokota is the team to beat and simply ther not going to lose and they are going to bring the ship back home. Let go Harvin, Tony, D- nice and Rainey

Edgren Overrated?

I am not sure what you mean that Johnell Alexander is not "nice' at all, he seems like a good kid to me. If you played against him and also played football then you should know that many players "comment and complement" each other on the field but that is where it should stay. Last time I remembered there are more teams that Yokota and when all those teams take the field they are ready to play. So why don' t you play "nice" on this board and not call out people and keep it positive. GO EAGLES!

Overated

I mean by nice that he not dat good as they are trying to blow them up. I know people complement eahother but this is simply overating him. Like i said he is not that nice

Overrated

Okay, not hip to your particular slang, but got it now. Your right, he is not that nice, he is just good. His perfomance on the field speaks for itself. GO EAGLES!

Re: Overrated

Guys: Please, tone it down. Whatever your personal thoughts are about particular players, they are not for consumption on this blog. Remember, you've entered THE "No-Hate Zone." Remember who we're discussing. And let's keep it on topic. :)

Pointing fingers

Sonal98-
You are pointing fingers at YokotaRep42 when "Misawa land" will not let the Fantastic 4 go! If you don't understand the "slang"...don't comment! Teens will be teens and that's how they "rap"...I mean talk!
Let game time decide who's nice and who's D-NICE! It takes an entire team to win a game...give "props"... I mean credit to the Q-back and line! GO YOKOTA!

Remember....NO HATERS!!!!

Misawa Land??

Sorry 2 disappoint but "Misawa land" was the first 2 let the Fantastic Four go. No offense 2 yokota but everyone wants 2 see your record fall thats just how it is. Helping edgren get to tha position it iz now and out of all tha mainland japan teams edgren has the greatest chance of doing what hasnt been done in so long. Its just how it is on mainland everyone is out 2 take down yokota because they want 2 be tha one ruin such a great record. Givin props 2 both teams they both have great players its just the publicity around the runningbacks. But since im an Eagle til death. GO EAGLES!

Edgen Overrated; Letting the "Fantastic Four" Go

First, I like to say that the Pacific is exploding with talent in all schools, in every sport. Still, it remains to be seen if Edgren is overrated or not. Let's let their manner of play speak for them....So far...so good. As for the "Fantastic Four," each of those young men played their respective roles while at Edgren, and did much to bring Eagles nation to its current Glory. Thus, they are worthy of mentioning, especially multi-purpose player Zach Latimore, who is now showing himself worthy of the Blue and Gold at the University of Pittsburgh.
Alexander, like other Eagle players, is committed to taking up the void left by the "Fantastic Four", and to doing all neccessary to keep Edgren winning!

Go Luck to all PACAF Teams and to Edgren's "Fantastic Four" as well as the graduated / transferred players of Yokota, Zama, Kinnick, ASIJ, etc!

Hmm

I don't think that most coaches would say they are exploding with talent.

Your right, perhaps

Your right, perhaps "exploding," was a far reaching word choice. However, the point is that each school has some talent across the sporting grid. Perhaps, each school has students "exploding "in character is a more correct statement.

Osan Cougars

The osan cougars had a major stepback after their great 06 season but look for them to bounce back, they have talented players and william rapoza will be back 100% after his ACL tear from the 06 season

Osan Cougars

This will not be the same team that took the field last year. PCS and graduation from the 2006 team killed us last year, but the PCS plane has been very good to us this summer, along with a focused coaching staff who will bring these young men back on track. Korea football should be very interesting this year. Go Cougars!!
