Great fall season for CAJ
Posted November 11th, 2007 by Dave OrnauerWith their second Far East Class AA volleyball tournament title in three years, Christian Academy In Japan really put a nice cap on what was an excellent fall season in Knights Nation.
MVP Kelsey Masuda and a strong supporting cast including Stephanie Hino and Nanae Ohki came away with a straight-sets victory over hard-luck George Washington of Guam in Saturday's championship match.
Put that together with CAJ's first Kanto Plain Association of Secondary Schools boys tennis team championship since 1974, led by the likes of Miles Peterson, a sophomore with strong blue-and-gold bloodlines -- his parents Jim and Hydi are CAJ alums.
Third place in the Kanto boys and second place in Kanto girls cross country standings ain't bad, either.
Congratulations to Knights Nation for an excellent fall season.

nothing about volleyball
Yea,
wrestling season starts tommorrow, when are we going to see coverage or blogs on that???
Wrestling
Expect a lot of new faces this year and new Far East Champs. A lot of the past champs have either graduated or moved on. Expect three or four tournaments to pass before a few names standout.
I know at least three or four weight class Far East Champs are gone. Does anyone have the outlook for this year?
basketball
Dave, Bball starts in a week, cmon cmon, whats the outlook for boys and girls? (hey, you started this blog - dont blame us for wanting faster information :-))
In the States
I'm in the States until Saturday. The "full bug" will resume after ORNY returns to his Far East environs. :)
Basketball Rankings
ORNY....this year how about ranking the basketball teams similiar to your weekly football rankings. I know there are way more basketball teams than there are football teams, but hey, I'll bet you can get it done.
Thanks for noticing
Hey- Thanks for taking the time to recognize our great season. Tomorrow night the school will pause to celebrate with our first in a long time, awards night. The awards nights after each season were schedule to begin again this year but what we didn't know is that we would have so much to celebrate! Let me add that the girls tennis team finished 2nd in the Kanto tournament and that the girls cross country team actually tied for 1st place with ASIJ. --- oh ya, another thing worth celebrating- Coach Collier (last spring's Far East Boys Soccer Champs coach) and his wife welcomed a daughter into their family on Friday.
Knights Nation
Hydi (the former Hydi Buss, CAJ Class of 1982), thanks for that information. Especially happy for Sean, a class guy who's helmed the Knights boys soccer team to two Class AA championships in three seasons. Congratulations, coach!
