At the halfway mark of Far East basketball tournament week
Posted February 20th, 2008 by Dave OrnauerThree days down, two to go in Class A, three in Class AA:
-- Is there anybody out there ... anybody ... who doesn't believe that Kadena will meet Seoul American in the Girls Class AA championship game?
-- Is there anybody out there ... anybody ... who doesn't believe that International School of the Sacred Heart and Faith Academy will reprise their 2007 Girls Class A title clash?
-- Is there anybody out there ... anybody ... who can somehow figure out who will win the Boys Class AA tournament?
-- How about the rise of St. Mary's International and Nile C. Kinnick? Since Tobi Taniguchi regained full health in his injured ankle, Titans are on a tear; likewise, the Red Devils entered Class AA on a 10-1 roll.
-- Can anybody remember the last time Christian Academy In Japan's boys scored 12 points in a game?
-- Kadena vs. Kubasaki, boys, which always has the trappings of a championship game, is relegated to the quarterfinals this year. Still, this should be an intriguing battle.
-- Just when we think Daegu American's and E.J. King's boys show their Achilles' heels, they escape with close wins in the Class A second playoff round, King in overtime over St. Paul Christian.
-- If some teams showed half the energy on defense that they do on offense, we'd have some unbeatable powerhouses.
-- Five days until the first official spring sports practices!

only 12 points!
Hey Dave, I doubt a CAJ Varsity team has ever scored so little in a game! But please have a bit of mercy on them.. Take a look at some of the circumstances-
6th game in 3 days (including the longest game of the tournament- their triple overtime loss), 2nd game of the day-- after an exciting first game since it was their very first WIN of the official season! 2nd time to play Kadena (they scored 40 the first time around..-why should a team have to play a team from the same pool in the first round of the main draw???), and due to tournament rules one of CAJ's key starters was not allowed to participate. Yes, i know i sound like a whining mom-- I am!
Keep up the great coverage!
