High school football Week 2 lookback: What we learned on Saturday

What we learned on the gridiron on Saturday afternoon, as we join the parched Seoul American Falcons, Daegu American Warriors and Guam High Panthers in their search for the guy who sells the ice-cold water (man, was it hot this weekend or WHAT????):

-- Don't read too much into Seoul's 20-0 shutout of Daegu at Falcon Field. It was the season opener, the Falcons did what any good team is supposed to do, capitalised on the Warriors' mistakes, but Daegu played Seoul very even in the second half. Take away the fumble inside the 5 and the interception-return touchdown and you almost have a rerun of last year's 3-0 Seoul victory. Seoul's a good team. So is Daegu.

-- Don't sleep on Seoul American's Demetrius Johnson and Willie Brown. Talk about a pair of guys who'll burn you.

-- Guam High has two very good reasons to feel emboldened. First, the Panthers took care of business at Big Navy's Blue Jacket Field, 25-12 over Southern in the season opener. Hours later, Guam High's longtime nemesis, George Washington, fell in a 36-12 shocker -- at HOME! -- against Simon Sanchez. Guess who Guam High plays on Saturday night at Blue Jacket Field? Could a school-first win over GW be in the cards?

So much has happened in just two weeks. Imagine what the next nine weeks will bring!

Kudos

Seward is tearing it up for Yokota, but part of that is because teams are keying on Presnell. Same thing happened last year...they were so afraid of McNeill that misdirection plays would go for very long runs. Not to take anything away from Seward, he has an amazing work ethic and it shows. Soon they'll key on him and Presnell will get the misdirections.
