Misawa's gridiron Jets on verge of historic USFJ-AFL achievement

With Saturday's 26-18 home win over two-time defending champion Yokosuka at Hillside Stadium, the Misawa Jets have a chance to do what no Jets team has done since the 1986 season.

Four quarterbacks took turns tossing the pigskin, with Darone Frierson catching two touchdown passes. Frierson, Darvin Johnson, Andre Rice and Ralph Elliott combined to go 8-for-22 for 151 yards and Prentice Coleman returned an interception 45 yards for a score.

Misawa won its fifth straight U.S. Forces Japan-American Football League game, giving the Jets the regular-season championship and host rights to the league-title Torii Bowl game on Aug. 30. Misawa will host the winner of the Yokota at Yokosuka semifinal on Aug. 23.

With a victory on Aug. 30, the Jets would win the league title outright. The 1986 Jets, led by the likes of All-Japan stars Joe King, Randy Truluck and pile-driving former University of Washington linebacker Don "Bamm-Bamm" LaPlante, only managed a share of the title with Yokota in the old U.S. Forces Japan football league.

Misawa won the USFJ-AFL regular-season and Torii Bowl titles in 2005, but as the privately-funded Marauders club team. The Jets reformed as the official base team in 2007, after being inactive following the 1988 season.

But to win that outright title, the Jets will face either a Seahawks team (2-2 league, 3-3 overall) which has gone 1-3 in its last four games, but still carries a great deal of pride, winning seven of the last eight league titles; or the Warriors, who've been down at the heels at 0-4 and 1-4 this season, but is hungry for a title, having lost three Torii Bowl games.

The Aug. 23 semifinal kicks off at 6 p.m. at turfed Berkey Field. The Torii Bowl kicks off at 2 p.m. at Hillside Stadium.

Should be an exciting two weekends.

Tough game

I tell you what... I am in the Navy here on MAB, and I love coming out to watch the games that we have. Being in the Navy, I make sure I came out to the last 2 YSH games and the team from 2 weeks ago was so much different on both sides. This story doesn't do the game justice. Misawa, all though a good team, benifited from the hawks miscues. This team brought heart, talent, and passion. I also saw what I THINK was the losing formula. Never have I seen a YSH team implode on the sidelines the way those guys did. Arguing, yelling, coaches sending in mixed play calling... who is running this team? #23 was everywhere, and some players were just standing around on plays. Misawa also had about 30 players... and I saw at least 10 that never played a down. That tells me that the mental game is being played, and Misawa doesn't have the numbers to back up all the hype. I can't wait to see what Yokosuka can do in 2 weeks (Yokota will fold) and how well they play with no mistakes. If I was a YSH coach, I would have stuck with the run, held on to the ball, and not given a good Misawa offense the ball back with easy long passes that from my angle should have resulted in 2 picks by the DB's. As far as making history, don't count out Yokosuka. They have a pretty good record in championship games. They will clean up the mistakes and come ready to defend that trophy. I hope that the bases will continue to support these teams as the fans do.

Unstopable Jets

I played for the Marauders/Jets for 7 seasons 2002-2008 played in two games the loss to the seachickens and The allstar game with the Asahi Silver Stars. Misawa has the best athletes and coaches. When misawa losses we beat ourselves i hope yokota waxes the YSC they got more hart then them. the starters YSC has are the scrubs that didnt start the previous seasons when the kittyhawk was there. it sucks but this is the last year of USFJ ball i think but misawa will have the final trophy. It doesnt matter how many championships YSC has its who has it last. it will be my JETS Get one for me MFL MBB

C-WALK31 out!!

The truth

C Walk...

Like I said, I am stationed in Misawa, and was at the game. I have seen you guys play down to the level of your competition and though I agree you have the talent and the coaching, you're also very lucky and very cocky. From the sideline, I saw several players on D gassed, out of breath, and tired in the first quarter. Why YSH didn't keep running the ball on you is beyond me. Probably the same cockiness that your OC has to run that A-11play. All that got you was 8 yds. Heart? Are you kidding? Don't act like you guys are the second coming of the NFL because you were given a safety, and Yoko thru the ball right at your DB's. YSH, please find one QB that can move and throw... Your refs were pretty inconsistant on BOTH sides as well. Your #64 is lucky he doesn't draw more 15 yarders for the dirty play and calling out who he's gonna blindside. He did that twice on Saturday. #25 seems to talk alot... get his little shots in when he can. Someone is gonna crack him, and he's gonna end up in the bleachers. As far as Yokota, YSH will win because Yokota won't show with 11, and it will be a rematch. I really wanna root for you guys, but I think you're really underestimating this team that still hasn't brought all their players at once. They had the heart to rent busses right? Just like you did. They could have just not showed up. I seem to remember reading about a Yokota team with heart bailing out on the YSH right before the game was supposeed to start. What will happen if they have to drive up to Misawa again? Flight canx? No bus? Rent vans again? To me it seems like playing a team 4 times would show that you can't win them all, just the ones that count. Next time will probably be a different game, because the players in Yokosuka are probably getting pretty tired of hearing about how they don't have heart. Good luck to both, and I look forward to being in the stands. Is the game at night this time on another field?

Hawks Fan

reschedule?

Dave,

Is there anyway that the YW and YSH will play this week, and that will count as the playoff game? I know there is a make up game scheduled, but there's really no need for it, right? Also, were you at the game on Saturday? What are your thoughts on Misawa playing Yokosuka for the 4th time? Will more teams get in next year to even it out? Kadena? Atsugi? Zama?

Re: reschedule?

Right now, it's about 90-percent confirmed that this week's game will be canceled, that Yokota will visit Yokosuka in the semifinal at 5 p.m. Aug. 23, and the championship will take place at 2 p.m. Aug. 30 at Misawa.

Goodness knows, I'd love to see more teams, but with the current ops tempo, which I feel will last quite a while, I don't see it happening.

This 4 u Hawks Fan, Come 2 our Practice!!!

U should come 2 our practice next week. I think that our coach would gladly give u some equipment and see if u can run on anybody on our defense. true, u r in the navy, and u r goin 2 stick up 4 ur fellows sailors 2 the south of us, but get real. yes we did get down on ourselves a couples of weeks ago but me and my fellow Jets corrected that and pulled out another "W" last week. I want 2 see what the seahawks r going 2 do also on the 30th. I'm excited 2 see what they r goin 2 draw up 2 help them leave with the league championship on our field....

P.S. thanks 4 the bulletin board material. u think that u have seen intense football, u will eat every **$$@@ word that u said about the MISAWA JETS!!!!!!!!!

Wow....

Did I hit a nerve? Maybe you misunderstood... yes I am critical of your, sorry... our team (I am stationed here and you represent me) because I have seen you play better. You should have beat this YSH team by far more, but I didn't anticipate them giving you this game on a platter. You wanna give me pads, and let me practice? To prove what? That I can get hit by 24 year olds? Yea. I'm 42, and don't think you would get anything out of it except to further your egos. Yes, I am in the Navy. Proudly serving for almost 24 years. I have served with joint commands, Airforce, Marines... and I am going to stick up for my Navy team. I support you too, and I enjoy watching you all play. I even felt bad for YSH because they came up here with what looked like a practice squad, and they never quit... and you had a fight on your hands until they made key turnovers that you indeed capitolized on. So this 42 year old fan of the game is what you draw bulletin board material? I really hope you don't need to stoop to the level of a blog that states my opinion. I'm not trashing you, I'm not trying to belittle your team, and like I have said a million times, I LOVE TO WATCH YOU PLAY! As far as what they bring on the 30th, I would assume they will bring the usual 18-20 players, 2 or 3 coaches, and they'll bring a defense that is usually on point with winning a championship and i can't wait to see it. Yes, I think I have seen intense football. Every game I go to. I could do without the A-11 play because it takes away from what i like, and that's power I foottball, but if you can't stop it, why not, right? Good luck on the 30th.

Misawa Jets

Hawk Fan,

Its nice to see that you attend the base games, but you definitly dont know much about your base team. Every team has complained about away games, money for transportation and numbers... every away game for the Jets has been down in Yokosuka with an average of 15 players, and money for transportation came from each individuals pocket as well. Not to mention they have the most away games out of both teams. But that is never mentioned in the paper, i guess the coaching staff and players dont have time for excuses to cusion themselves if they should lose. The difference is, Misawa has handled their buisness while the rest have folded under the pressure. They have the best talent in the league hands down, numbers down lie. You are still on the hype of your team from the begining of the season... one hundred something yards rushing for your RB, but one thing they never mentioned was how many yards were actually ran against Misawa. To answer your quetion, they cant run the ball against the Jets. If you've truely attended the games you've seen that for your self as a fact. They get yards off of blown plays that work in their advantage because the Jets are quick to persue the ball which occasionally leaves a WR open. But they can try to catch it if they want, the Jets also have the hardest hitters in the league. But all truth be told, the Jets play for four qtrs while you team has a habbit of quiting in the second or third because the Jets take their heart. Dont hate and try to belittle the Jets because your team cant step their game up. All Yokosuka does is play dirty, argue with the refs and try to get away with cheep shots expecting the game to be given to them. Just be prepared to watch the Jets bring home the championship this year. If you ask me, Yokota has more heart the your birds, bring them to Misawa

You're wrong

Jets Fan...

You're wrong. Point blank. And I am quickly beginning to think I am wasting my time going to these games and being around this team. Took their heart? Blown plays? So what you're telling me is that the YSH basically have been the luckiest team in this league for however many years they have been winning? I am pretty sure that it's because they have some kind of talent, good coaches that know what they are doing when they all agree. I'm nopt sure what the difference is between the Regular Season and the Tori Bowl, but I give you proper respect for the way you ran the league. However, to sit there and tell me that the Hawks are dirty cheaters that are lucky to grace the sandpit of a field with you is ridiculous. Hard play is a part of it, but cheaters? No. I am not in there to watch and see what happens inside on the line, and I am sure BOTH teams are pretty guilty of doing what they can to beat the man in front. That's just hard football. I saw enough going on BOTH SIDES so don't tell me that you were cheated or they were dirty. There were some inconsistancy with the refs on both sides. BOTH SIDES. These refs are the same from the last game and they aren't consistent. The clock was always in question, I saw punches to ribs, dirt thrown up "accidentally", and crack blocks away from kick offs when players went head hunting. When I was growing up, that was called cheap, and at this level, it's uncalled for. If a player is 20 yards away from a play going away from him, you don't seak him out from 15 yards, get a running start, and blind side him just to do it. You look down field to make a block that will help your team, not head hunt. I know it's football and god bless Sports Center... but I saw at least 2 players do that. Well if they can't run on you, I guess they'll just keep blocking your punts. They seem to have that down pretty good. They scored 18 somehow. Must have been luck. Folded under presssure? I think it's more like folded under deployments. I have alot of respect for your players. #10, 55 I think... 92... guys that are trully great players and people off the field. Don't try to put words in my mouth to help motivate yourself. I am sure that the 30th will bring a better game.

Jets/Marauders

Its so amazing how when Misawa had half their team at AEF deployments last year and still played with who they had and didn't make mission excuses and showed up to every game with heart and competed it was no big deal. Now the Yokosuka SeaChickens (dirtiest players in the league) who gouge people in the eyes when their down, spit in peoples faces when their down, and do illegal cut blocks...they lose to Misawa and theres all these flippin excuses. We are in the military and sometimes you will not have all ya players so you betta make due with what you have, but thass a part of bein a team and pullin together as best you can.
We outplayed them period...we have the best coaches, players, and this year the YSC don't have our plays memorized as they did last year and we won with a better team effort.
If our guys are talking on the field its to build us up not to degrade anyone else because we know where we stand in the league...at the top.
Last year in a newspaper article interview with the YSC someone from their team said that the championship runs through the YW or the YSC (last year) but that the YSC had unfinished business with Misawa...why, they were undefeated and as a supposed champion why would you have the need to come after a team who supposedly has no talent, I'll tell you why...its because the YSC lack class. They are on the field always-always talkin smack which is cool within the game but when ya outrightly disrespectin someone then you're gonna get a reaction...period. Our coach is the face of intensity and you can best believe we are gonna follow suit. It'll be different though...we'll do our talkin with our play which ultimately will put us on top.
I LOVE MY TEAM, I WAS A MARAUDER AND NOW I'M A JET AND WE HAVE ALOT OF PRIDE WITHIN OUR ORGANIZATION, SO, YOU BRING THE FIGHT WHO EVER YOU ARE AND I PROMISE YOU FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY WARRIOR SPIRIT WE WILL BE READY...SEE YOU 30 AUG @ 1400.

JFL/MFL Jets/Marauders for LIFE!!!!

Hawks fan,

I'm the coach of the Jets, and while you're entitle to your opinon you obviously were not looking at the same game I watched. You are right, YSC did run the ball effectively during the first 2-3 series. But do you know what front we ran defensively during that span? Do you know that we adjusted our scheme to make them one dimensional? Obvioulsy you know alot about the game to realize that we adjusted and they didn't. This adjustment contributed to the safety. This gave us momentum.
I have been a member of this team for 6 years and have been involed in the game for close to 15 years. Every year we faced YSC we bring it!!! And when we really turn the heat up they pack it up. Every year I've heard from our Jets coaches past on how YSC coaches (while I respect them as individuals) would get in the coaches meeting and talk about themselves like their superhumans. I witness this first hand being a first year coach on a few occasions. Well, I'm here to say that we don't need verbals, we want to back up ourselves by being more physical (making you go cry to your family and say we don''t play fair. Beat the ever living stuff...). This is the intensity I bring as mentioned by 22Man.
You made a comment of being cocky. Well let me inform you of something football is a physical game & as soon as your cockiness wears off, someone will run right through you & take your place. The 22 players I put on the field better be cocky because if one person has doubts then the whole team suffers. So it pays to be cocky in the sport of football (however you must back it up). And we proved that we can back it up.
Another comment you mentioned was the a mental game being played, if unmistakened. Well if you didn't know, along with being physical, football is a game that takes a little bit of intelligence as well. You just don't send a scared soul into a battle. You want you "cockiest and most intelligent" soilder.
But Obviously you know this. I tell you what come out next Feb when the real (not Flag) players get prepared for the game that, most people I talk to, are unable to bring their minds & bodies to do. The greatest game on the planet!!! SAVE VARSITY FOOTBALL!!!

Sandman Out!!! And ready to line up in the trenches with any other cocky and brave soul. WOOOOSAHH!!!

Coach

Coach,

Firstly, I do give your team the respect it deserves. I do know defenses, and I do see when adjustments are made. You made them, and in the 4th, you dropped your lineman into coverage. Why YSH didn't see that and run isn't my call. So yes, I do recognize things on the field. I don't know the coaches personally, and this game, there were alot more of them on the field. Some I recognize, some I don't. I guess if I won as much as they did, or you do, I would have a bit of an ego too. YSH are obviously having an off year. This is not the same team that came up here last year, and they look like they are really trying to stay in these games with what they have. I am sure they bring it every game too, and they are waiting for the chance to come back up here and play for what matters. The trophy. As far as my cocky comment... I stand behind everything I said. Your team is cocky. Arrogant. If the YSH are classless, what do you honestly think of yourself? You've got guys on that team that play about a quarter's worth of time, and to see them run into a guy from 20 yards when the play is over is to me, arrogant. Your #25 is waiting to have some 250 pound guy launch him. I saw him sit back, wait until the play passed him, look back into the off play side of a kick return or punt... I can't recall, and took off full speed at a guy that outweighed him by 80 pounds and was already being blocked. It happened near your sideline, so I couldn't see all the way accross. He was already engaged with #64, and got his shot in. Why? I am sure you coach them to play hard every play, and I am sure you also tell them to play smart. While that little #25 was trying to take this guy out, he could have been down field making a block for your returner. I'm pretty sure the lineman that was being double teamed wasn't a factor. That's cocky. That's him saying, I don't need to go block for my team, I'll just hit this guy while he's not looking and being blocked by another Jet so I can say I hit a guy. That's my point. And he did it more then once. I've seen that alot. I saw dirt flying, I saw punches. And yes, they did complain. You'd complain too if you were having to fight the 11 on the field and the refs that were obviously not trainied. Regardless of what I think, you're gonna be fine. You'll prepare as they all will and they will get passed Yokota because I honestly think they'll fold and no show. They fell apart somewhere, and they have to travel. That makes it even worse. I will be out there on the 30th cheering for them, because they are my team. Either way, it will be a good hard fought game that should bring the grass up. I am also hearing it will be on a different field? Is that because the hillside is in need of repair? Good luck on the 30th.

HF

From my view point

Coach,

I have to agree with you on our arrogance. We have won several championships in the past few years and went basically unchallenged last year. I am happy see your program up and healthy with numbers, new uniforms and what seems to be a successful program.

We have lost to you 3 times since I have been back in charge of the defense since I came back in 2006. We have always been healthy with talented players. This year we are a little short but nobody cares we are the SEAHAWKS, we are not going to cry about it.

I make no excuses since I have tried to be nothing but a gentleman when dealing with you and your team. Honoring our commitments and playing hard.

We drove up and got out of the van and played you undermanned with 16 players a few weeks ago, so what we all have done it. You won that game. We did it again with a couple more guys last weekend, and congrats to your team you beat us again. My guys played harder but still no cigar.

We will make adjustments. Communication is hard when they are going both ways including special teams. Thats heart. We never wined once. We are not making excuses or taking anything away from your program.

We will be back. Back as a class act, we will not take a forfeit and will only request reschedules when all else has failed. The SEAHAWKS will not roll over for anyone. The most dangerous opponent is the one who takes you seriously.

We respect you and it may be your time in the sun.

Remember there may be a 16 man storm on your horizon.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

James

ENOUGH!!!

Coach P,

We'll take it from here. We as players should be the ones to take matters into our own hands. Luckily we have 2 games to play and one of them is a final chance to redeem what you and the other coaches are putting into our heads. Are we arrogant? Probably. Goes with the territory. Running the league for 10 years can tend to do that t a team. Are our coaches superhuman? In my eyes tehy are, becaue every week they get us ready, and tehy run the offense and defense the way it should. We're a family, and like family, you have your squabbles, but you learn and you grow. This year has been alot of growing as players came and went, we all had the same goal. Defend what's ours... the trophy. But it comes down to this. We have the talent as we do every year. We have also shot ourself in the foot a ridiculous amout of times this year, and never again should we take a month off. We've been called alot of things. Cheaters, cry babies, complainers... whatever. We're not done yet. We aren't going to just give you a championship. We'll clean up our mistakes, and I can guarentee you we won't make them again, and you'll pay for the ones you make against us. Some things that you Maraud... sorry... Jets have said hit me kinda close to the heart. Cheaters? Are you f#4*ing serious? Please tell me that was a joke. Cut blocking? It's legal in the box, and trust me, if your refs called us like they called you, you'd see a flag. Throwing dirt in players faces... punches in the ribs... head hunting... come on dude. And according to your own players "It's good hard football". Stop cryin' if you're gonna do it yourself! We all know who to watch... it's the same every game. Trash talk is always good for the game, but if you sit the bench, just shut up. #25... come on. Do us all a favor and hit someone instead of riding the hits of others. Make your own play. Take it personal, whatever... you're garbage and talk way too much. Hit someone in the chest, instead of from behind. Classless? If we were classless, we wouldn't risk the drive with 16 to see ourselves get too tired playing 3 ways. We wouldn't shake your hands, and bow at the 50 for a prayer. We wouldn't give 130% out there with 16 people. That's heart fellas. Just like you have. We're not some bionic playing team that can do all because we say so. We work hard, and if that's arrogance, then we must be. You have the respect a team gets after 2 hard fought wins, and you deserve to sit back and watch the others for a week. Know this, Misawa... we're not rolling over for you. We're practicing, we're communicating and we're playing from start to stop. We quit?! We never quit! We have guys that play O,D, and ST... we played a hell of a game Saturday, and we had you beat! We didn't finish the game off like we should because we played to your level. I don't care if you have 45 on the sideline, because 11 is all you can field. So go look at your Madden '09 playbook, look up your A-11 plays, and get ready for the 30th. We're coming up there to hear no excuses as to why the Yokosuka SEAHAWKS took it to the Misawa Maraud... oh yea... Jets, or thunderbirds, or bombers, or tankers.. .whatever. You talk about us, and we'll just play. I do like the jerseys though. Good luck on the 30th.

PLAYER 4 LIFE!

haha

If the championship is going to be played on another field its because MWR is throwing a beach party on the regular one, haha.

Seriously, that field is garbage. I'm bringing a bucket and shovel the next time I have to play in that sand trap. There is no way that 5 inches of SAND forms naturally on a grass field like that. What, does it double as a driving range, or do you guys need something to hold onto before the snap?

You boys sound like you won it all already. Good. Tread carefully and work hard because its gonna hurt like a mother if you FAIL! It will resonate throughout the rest of your lives. We've eaten, have you?

But on a kinder note, I'd actually like to thank the Jets. Yes, thank them. By now our entire team has seen this thread and read some of the spew that you've posted. I'm sure it will give the few of us that need to stoke our fires exactly what we need until we walk away with "your" trophy.

You will be given nothing.

See you tonight Coach P.

Great Game

Coach,

I honestly thought it was a great game played on both sides of the ball by both teams. My guys played their backsides off as did yours. The only difference is that you guys made the plays when you had to and you got the W.

About the game on the 30th, I'm sure there will be enough talk about after we play Yokota.

r,
Coach C

Just Play The Game!!!

I am the assistant coach and the offensive coordinater for the Jets. First and foremost, everyone who wrote on this blog is entitled to their own opinions. I played QB for Yokota Panthers high school from 1994-1997/ Yokota Raiders 1997/Okinawa Giants 2000/Misawa Marauders 2005-2007 so I've been around PACAF to know what this league is about and why it is important for us to keep this going. It is up to all the players and coaches to network with other bases and try to get them to build teams for morale and recreation.

Second, Whoever has it in their minds that we run Madden type plays and the A-11, doesn't really know football. The A-11 is no way near what we ran and I do recall, that play that set us up for the first TD was about a 25-30 yard pass. As far as Madden is concerned, I don't play video games but if you think they are, then STOP THEM. Otherwise, play football because I'm sure no coach in this league created the I-formation or Shotgun which is what you guys mostly run. I have a lot of respect for your coaching staff and you players, including Yokota but I think your focus needs to be a little bit more on Yokota than us because believe it or not, Yokota played us close with 13 players. Nobody ever brings their full squad to away games. WE ARE IN THE MILITARY, DUTY FIRST so please cut out how many players were brought to what game because all of your starters last game, played the first game when we played you guys down there. I know because, even though I was TDY at that time, I watched the film. Believe me, we are fine tuning our mishaps and we don't have to worry about another team for the next couple of weeks. Trust me, WE WILL BE READY.

Lastly, Hawks Fan, I respect you for coming out to the games and putting your opinions on this blog. There are a few corrections to be made here. Yokosuka scored off a bad punt snap. They had to revert to passing just like we did. Both defenses played tuff against the run game. The only difference is, we were successful with the passes and they weren't. Our defense played solid througout the game and yes they were tired just like Yokosuka but all around, our defense played outstaning and didn't give the QBs time to pass plus if you watched, their receivers were covered most of the game. Offensively, the passes that were completed were not just thrown up in the air, trust me because I call 99% of our offensive plays. The 1% is the QB audibles. The 2 TD passes were legit and the defender was 3 yds beat on the first and there were no defenders around the WR on the second. I'm not cocky but rather confident in my offense and that is why I implemented using all 4 QBS. In the past, Misawa's offense was predictable because we believed if you can stop it, stop it. This is my first year from QB to coach. My new theory now, being that we play each other so often, is keep it fresh every game. Also, in the past, Misawa had to go play all three teams, including Atsugi down south (11-12 hour drive), while the teams down south came up here once, each. Now that is a lot of money to fork out, plus key players missing but we never complained and gave it everything we had. We here at Misawa have always had outstanding players and coaches in the past but one thing that seperates us from the rest this year is, WE'RE UNPREDICTABLE on both sides of the field. I believe I wrote enough but Hawks fan, come out and enjoy the game between Misawa and Yokosuka or Yokota. Good luck to both teams.

Coach Fred Ellis

Monkeys fly at night when the sun is up!

If you want to talk about last year and the teams that came up to Misawa, then lets talk about YSH vs MM. I'm pretty sure that YSH blew out the MM (now Jets). Ok, blew out wasn't the right term, DEVASTATED is more like it. I'm pretty sure the "Jets" had a full squad then, but I'm also sure the YSH had a pretty full group as well. But thats the past so there's no need in comparing it to present day. (that was an example of where a FULL YSH team travelled to Misawa and spanked them, since Coach decided to add that at the end of his post)

I haven't really been to alot of games but by the talks of it Misawa still struggles when Yokota/Yokosuka brings 13/16 people. "Yokota played us close with 13 players" Just think of the devastation that could be wrought against Misawa with either of the two teams given they had a full squad! For Misawa's sake, they better hope YSH only brings less than 22 players again, or else I think the outcome will be in favor of YSH. Even if they bring 22, Misawa has alot coming their way in my opinion.

Classless? Yokosuka? Who's calling who names here? Even the Coaches of the Jets have called YSH the Yokosuka Seachickens. That's classy? I guess I'm not up to terms with the new definition of Classy/Classless. (I've seen more Jets players on here running their mouths than any other team...hmm)

Who's dirty and plays cheap? As it has been stated before I'm pretty sure both teams do a little bit of both, so why even bring it up?

I'm sure it will be a good game either way you look at it, just don't be the one on the ground looking up when it's over!

good point

Seriously. Seachickens? what are you in the 3rd grade? LoL

Gametime

Look all those games are in the past alright everybody needs to concentrate on right now and not back then misawa is in the championship who will we face i dont care who we face ALL teams are gunning for tha trophy its gone be an all out game on tha 30th all im sayin is bring ya A game whoeva we face cuz #38 and the rest of the Jets will, so quit tha chatter the crying all this talk of cheatin no class cheap shots wuteva squash it SAVE IT FOR THE FIELD and er body play football its GAMETIME TIME TO PUT UP OR SHUT UP

#38 ICE COLD MISAWA JETS FOR LIFE

Just be glad the games on

Just be glad the games on the sandlot and not a real field. Oh...I hope the game being on your home pasture gives you an advantage, cuz you'll need all "advantage" you can get.

Don't get too big headed now, don't want ya on the bench cuz ur head's too fat to fit that helmet of yours!

This is great Blog

Dave,

My hats off to you. Just when you thought the league was dead this blog, in a matter of two days, has brought a little spice back to playing in these games.

To the Misawa Coaches Sandman and Fred and the rest of the Jets, you guys made the plays when you had to and got the Win because of it. See you on the 30th.

r,
Coach Cole

Love the passion

I know the coaches of both teams are loving this. Getting the players amped up for some good football. Its not football if it doesnt have passion, intensity, heart and cockiness. Don King must be promoting this game or something. This is good for the league, but its some what pointless if the base communities around us dont get involved. find a way to get them involved in this passion you all share and maybe we can save this league.

sand box

I still haven't heard anyone deny that that field was purposely turned into the beachfront property that it is.

Look, the field the is

Look, the field the is horrible I agreed, but next time win enough of your games then you can stop complaining about our field and have the championship game on your field. It's a simple solution to your problem..................

or

or whoever the groundskeeper is can stop covering it with sand. That will work too ;)

FIRED UP!

Man this is great. Who knew that we could get so fired up over 3rd grade name calling! "Oh yea? Well my honor student can beat up your honor student"... Hahaha. Ya know, it's a matter of one thing. Fixing mistakes and working hard. We can do both and it will show. I'm studying my Madden 09 to get familiar with Misawa's playbook. I know... if you can stop it, stop it... blah blah blah. Just keep practicing with heart, class, and the halos on your head, and we should have us a real friendly, gentlemanly little scrimmage. Whatever. No one is coming up there to get beat and we know we'll see the dirt in the eyes, the crackbacks, hear the voices of the bench talkin' because they aren't on the field...stop us if you can... blah blah blah. Well I guess if it's that easy, we'll just have to stop you. Or you can stop us... from KEEPING THE TROPHY IN YOKOSUKA. We got a trophy and you don't.. na na nana na na. Hahahaha. Jets, just play. Bottom line. We got a game against Yokota to handle, and after we blow them out if they show, we'll turn our frustrations to your Madden offense. Thanks for playing this year, it's been fun watching you guys get so worked up before a game. I like all the yellin' and screamin'. Very classy and tasteful. Hope to see ya on he 30th.

HFL

hold up

Full squad last year when u blew out misawa far from it. 95% of our squad was deployed for that game and the game before but u didnt read that in the paper. but it all good bring that A game on the 30th

cmon dude

95%? Wow, you must have had something like, wait...let me do the math real quick...2,500 players last year. I accounted for the 25 (exact number? who cares) players that got a taste, no a fat plate of REAL Seahawks football when this team is running on all cylinders and firing hot!

Keep posting your unitelligible responses you guys. We're loving this!

Reviving This League

I agree with coach Cole about this blog. Dave are you making it over this way for the championship game? I've never seen such a championship hyped up for this league, ever. Also, Dave, is there any way you can do a page breakdown before the game? You used to call it The Orny's Outlook. We can all really use your help reviving this league. I know you did this before, I believe in 2000 but, is there any way you could do a 3-5 page story on the history of the league with the pictures and breakdown of all the teams that participated? This could really help catch the attention of bases who disbanded their teams and maybe some leadership who still loves football.

I agree about our field not being what it needs to be. Heck we had a lot of bad snaps because of it. We are getting the high school field. Be thankful for the support you guys get from your base with the turf and all because our base doesn't support us at all. After all, the Seahawks deserve the support being that you guys are a dynasty in the history of this league. I remember playing against the Yokosuka Seahawks (base team), the INDY Warriors (Ship team), and the Greyhawks (over 30 team). That's three teams on one base. Coach Sanders and I are trying to establish a good relationship with the base so that maybe we can get better support out here and that will benefit all teams coming up here but hey, we get to play ball.

My whole point to this is, Let's all keep this league going strong. Coach Cole and P, good luck with your games with Yokota and we'll keep fine tuning.

Great Idea

Coach E,

That's a great idea. I know we don't see much on the AFL side of the sports section, and a good preview edition and league breakdown would be good for us. Maybe even a game of the week preview next year. Hopefully Atsugi will get back on track, Yoko will always be here... Zama, Okinawa... One fight on the same team, and we all love the game and the trash talk. High School field? Sounds good. See ya on the 30th.

LOL.....

You know what, ya'll little Seamonkey's keep talking all this trash for what???? Hugh, nothing....Listen I was there last year and I'm here this year, this is a totally different team so don't let your mouth write a check your a*$ can't cash..Just be prepared to go to war on the 30th cause I don't know about ya'll but, the "JETS ARE LOOKING TO SHOOT DOWN SOME SEAHAWKS". As for the Hawk fan: You say your 42 and don't want to let a 24 year old get at you with the pads, well I just turned 30 and I've been playing this sport for 20 years come to practice and have someone in your age brackett make you a believer...!!!!!
IT'S A WRAP, TIME FOR WAR!!!!!!!!
Big-Q # 10

get real

The man was just commenting. I'm sure he has no intention of coming out to test how big and bad you boys are. He's probably left the blog by now, haha.

What would it prove anyway if he did come out? That you can pound on a man who probably hasn't played the game in years? Classy.

MYBAD

95% of our starters were deployed we had inexperiance and mainly kids that never played ball out there but then again we got no excuses i played at misawa and thats the only time yall got ur rocks off on the marauders if u watch the tape of that blow out and the next time we played u will see 25 of those that were on the side line are different players

for shore

The only way I see things getting some resolve around here is if it were possible to get both teams, the Jets and the Seahawks, in full with their best players, and play a game for what seems to be bragging rights.

To the 30 year old child that plays for the Jets, are you seroius? Come on man, it's not always about getting the biggest hit. Maybe you've been blown up so many times you just don't get the picture do you? You may be 30, but my 15 year old sister acts more mature than you do. Ohh, answer this question (it's been asked before) what is there to prove with the Hawk Fan who's 42? I'd find it quite funny if he put you in your place and shut that trap of yours up. But I doubt it would happen cuz he's got more class than you, and heart (see what I did there? )

I salute you! America's bravest and finest (and often lesser educated)!

haha

Oh burn!

Its Been Awhile!!

Man, this is taking me way back. I played for the Marauders from 2002-2006 and I have never seen it this heated. Now I went 1-2 in the Championship and I can say that every time I played it was a hard fought battle. But no matter what one thing was given on both sides was respect. Now I heard (Not in this blog) that people question our Title in 2005. I don't kow about you, but I work my butt off for JD. Even though we didn't have as much talent as pass teams, we were the most focus and dicated of the bunch. If you don't believe me, just ask Sandman(Starting Middle Linebacker) and Fred(Quarterback). Now know the tradition of BOTH teams, neither one is going to go down without a fight. Coach JD once told me you bust your behind to win the regular season title cuz it is the only way to have success in the playoffs. BUT no matter, you play to win the game. I wish luck to Both team.

Now that's what I'm talking about!!!

I think we've created a monster!!! Seriously, I tend to p---- people off. But you know what I really don't CARE!!!! They don't call me Sandman for nothing. Ask my Jets. I p--- them off so they can be p--- at everyone who step on the field with them. Once the action stops then they got what they want in terms of intensity. I want to thank HawkFan for inspiring me (not offending) to come up with some spice. I've learned not to be offended a long time ago.

Class is not something I comprehend very well and I'll tell you why. It's not about class with me (really it's about me saying anything I want & feeling OK no matter what). If I'm wrong about it then I'll come back with apologies. To be redundant, I don't lose sleep on what anyone says in retaliation. Therefore, I never FAIL!!! For me, to be full of life (or at least something else) is not failure. Class is your definition because the one's you follow define themselves as such! Try to break away from the normal day-to-day people & come up with your own definition. My definition, defines something but has no definition at all. Some of you call it freedom. And quit disrepecting 3rd graders. Some of you on this blog may have kids who are in the 3rd grade. 3rd graders are evolving and are lot more intelligent than you give them credit for (you know with the internet & all). HA!!!

Really Nough' respect to all in the league including Yokota & Atsugi. We needed to spice up the intensity. I'm tired of saying "good game yokosuka" oh "good game misawa" oh "good game yokota" oh "good game atsugi". Tell me how you really feel!!! Bulletin board material is good for all teams. The way I see it is every year I've been in this league the rules have cramped our way of playing football. I love this smack talking that's fuel to my fire. But my FIRE WILL BE BIGGER THAN YOUR FIRE!! Maybe the folks who play next season (and there will be a next season) coming into yokuska, misawa, yokota, or Atsugi see this blog and are like "MAN IS THE FOOTBALL IS REALLY INTENSE IN JAPAN". Call it a marketing strategy!! There goes that cockiness of mine!!

I'm going to air some things out so don't be offended. I'm not your friend nor do I try to be. I'm in the business of football. At all cost I'll try to do my part to keep it going. If that mean p---ing folks off I really don't care of the reprecussions.

Football is a game of emotion. When I get on that field I'm free and say anything I want to. I allow noone to take that from me. Many of you know who have played with me and against me know I've said some terrible things. But with that comes the rage I play with. This is flows over into my coaching style. So don't get upset when I say I want to stomp your throat (figuratively for those who may be a little slow) from the sideline or in a blog. He!! I want to stomp the throats of anyone who contests.

And as far as our field conditions, come on you got say something better. Like we play in the Sahara or in PSAB (bad examples). My point is, I'd play this sport over hot coals & spikes with a tank tops & sandals if that's the only opportunity or surface I had. That field condition is not the reason you play this sport.

Sandman out & love the heat that has been produced through this blog. Thanks Dave, Coach C, Coach P, Coach Ellis. A good old barn burner and everyones invited!!! All my people say WOOO and a SAAAHHH!!!!

Coming your way

Coach E, Sandman, Woodycole and the goodtime USFJ-AFL gang:

ORNY will be at Yokosuka for the Aug. 23 semifinal, and at Misawa for the Aug. 30 Torii Bowl.

Need a ride from Misawa Station. Train arrives at 12:20 p.m. Aug. 30. *grin*

WoW

All I really have to say is WoW.

That wall of gibberish really hurt my eyes when I read the same thing over and over. I got your point the first time in the first 2 paragraphs. Hey sandman, I know you're probably not concerned about grammar or complete thoughts (whether it be day to day or within a failed sentence) but that is the one thing a 3rd grader has over you.

I can't be offended by someone or a group of people who can't really make what they're saying comprehensible. Get what I'm sayin? Maybe not, but moving on. You don't like how we mock your lack of a football field and say we need to represent the sandlot a little better in our mockings, but you yourself couldn't even do so. Maybe you should reconsider the whole Seachicken thing too (whether it be you or the rest of the Jets). I'm just trying to be the fuel for your fire be degrading you and the rest of your lesser educated teammates. Don't hate the Seahawks because you took the easy way out when you joined the "chairforce" =)

"Sandman" - an elf in fairy stories who sprinkles sand in children's eyes to make them sleepy

"Sandman" - a figure who brings good sleep and dreams; also used as a symbol of the passage of time to death

I take it you're more like the first definition, cuz I'm pretty sure the 2nd definition of Sandman played for the Hawks. #3 was his number. I think Banks was his name...maybe you know him. =D

Wow Is Right

hey Pigeonman, if you put as much time into working on your game on the field as you do into this blog you would be alright. you must ride the bench, and if you do start you're probably just a body on the field to make 11. what you need to do is focus on getting past Yokota, cause its no promise you'll even play the Jets. The way it sounds to me, yall are full of excuses and stuck in the past. its not about last year and who played and what the score was, its about right now. and right now the Jets are the better team and you are trying to get where they are for the chance to defend the title. dont worry about our fire cause were good, you need to worry about your own.

As far as I'm concerned I'm

As far as I'm concerned I'm the best in the league at my position.(at least I haven't seen anyone give me too much competition) I'm sorry you never got past highschool football and experienced the next level. I hope you don't think this league out here is the next level because it's hardly that. This league is probably right in between Highschool football and Semi-Pro (cuz those are the guys who couldn't make it on a collegiate team). If you think this isn't highschool football then talk to the commissioner and have him change the league rules to college, but I doubt kicking off from the 30 will do any team in the league any good. Other than that, everything else would be kosher.

If you wanna compare brain power, you'll be up way past your bedtime.

it's just lame now

I don't even know what to say anymore haha. I think I have gotten all the entertainment I can from this!!

The Jets may have won the last two meetings, but in a battle wits they come unarmed, lmao!

Man I tell you what.......................

(Before I get started I'ma let U know EXACTLY who I am and what position I play so if U have a problem with me U CAN SEND YOUR TEAMS BEST PLAYER'S MY WAY AND RUN YOUR BEST PLAYS RIGHT UP THE MIDDLE SO I CAN SHOW U WHY THEY CALL ME MONSTER........) I'm #55 (write it down, take a picture you know the rest)..........................and I play DEFENSIVE TACKLE on DEFENSE and OFFENSIVE GUARD/TACKLE on OFFENSE; I'm the ONE that TALKS out there on the field and sometimes it's nice but most of the time it's the kinda of talk that gets under your skin and I back it up with a whole lotta actions..................). After reading all the emails and carefully considering everyone's position, I'm really at a lost for words..........Don't get me wrong, everyone is entitled 2 their own opinions and everything, but first off let's get one thing straight, this is FOOTBALL. Some of the emails really was way off in left field, i.e. referencing last's year game played here at Misawa won by the Seahawks 54-0, the same game that I didn't play in because I was TDY in the desert. I'm not even trying to use that as a excuse, because that was last year this is NOW. And speaking of numbers, what gives, with the Seahawks saying they only brought 16 or 17 players here to Misawa. I'ma let U know, the very first game of the year we brought I believe the same number of players when the Seahawks won 18-0 and I was told that some of the Seahawk players told our players that we "hit too hard", (R U serious this is football) and this I remind U is after the Seahawks beat Yokota 48-6 and Harris, (the running back) scored like 5 touchdowns and was showing out. And I know for a fact the Seahawks rotated their offensive and defensive lines out against us because of their large numbers. I even said that on the field to the Seahawk players who responded to me, "It doesn't matter, play with what U got". Which is true, but the Seahawks brought more players down the 2nd time around than the first time and still got the same result, an L. Let's take a trip down memory lane. At the beginning of the year Misawa was dubbed the program that was rebuilidng and returning basically nothing from last years team. We had the least numbers of returners from last year and were basically picked last. Yokosuka was the outright favorite 2 run away with the crown. Guess you can't believe everything U read, huh? Don't be mad because some people can't live up to expectations. And as far as the cut blocks being legal I know for a fact that I was high-lowed at least 3 to 4 times in the game, and not by accident. You can seriously hurt somehow like that (I take that as, "I can't block you the right way, so let me try to hurt you.) That my friend is illegal and I feel sorry for the Seahawks front offensive line (and YES I'M gonna to list some by NUMBERS because this is how serious I'm am) #59- you already know that U can't block me straight up and if U try it I'll just push U into the backfield (remember what I told U in the game and I hope your taking my advice, "Get in the weight room and getcha' weight up........because U know I'm in there after reading all the Seahawks emails.......)#97-you R the biggest one on the field (which doesn't always translate to the strongest or best player on the field) yet your chopping me and your fatigue level isn't exactly where it is suppose to be. I know after reading that line your thinking well your's isn't either. Well let me explain something to you, after drinking some of water from your sideline water bottles that was so generously offered to me by one of Seahawks players, ("Man you should get some of our water, it's that fire"......were his exact words, by the way you know who U R) my stomach started to cramped up and my body was all the sudden zapped of energy, (Man I wondered how that happened? Betcha one thing though it won't happen again............) And all the talk of the So Call Seahawks running game. Come on R U serious? I will give credit where credit is due though to #2 who runs hard and #55 who is a beast of a pass rusher and defensive end (you should probably be playing semi pro). But for the most part nobody, and I mean nobody can block me on that offensive line (#60-trust me I was taking alot of plays off and I noticed how you swithced to the other side of the offensive line later on in the game. Didn't think I noticed it, huh? However, I like teeing off with you, your about the only one who blocks straight up.) Running the ball, I mean come on we're talking about running the ball, (It's the same analogy as Allen Iverson was using when he was talking about PRACTICE........) ANYBODY that plays us PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, run the ball up the middle I enjoy the challenge of taking on two blockers and clogging up the middle of the field. I REALLY LOVE A PHYSICAL, PHYSICAL football game by all means. After reading this email please tell your coaching staff, fans, chain of command I really don't care, JUST DO IT!!!!!!! Cocky, no, just confident that I can handle my area with no problems. And and far as the field is concern, I play in the dirt too and no I don't use dirt to throw in peoples faces and I'm not a big fan of playing on that field neither. But guess what you really don't have a choice in the matter because the championship RUNS THROUGH MISAWA!!!!!!! Don't think for one second I don't know the REAL REASON I hear the rumblings about our field........Some people are under the impression that Yokosuka deserves to host the championship game becaue they got the "New" field. Wrong, maybe next year. Like Hova said, I Know, I Know I Know...........you must be thinkin' this #55 is really talking trash. Well when it really boils down 2 it, YES. And I didn't want to get into all this email bashing but after reading all the Seahawks Players/Fans emails I had no choice. Maddens plays, come on line up and stop Madden plays. It's just a video game, right? Do I smell a HATER! Man that #55 just keeps on going and going, just wait til the 30th he's going to get his.............. (these R your thoughts right now, trust me I know, your hotter than fish grease)...............Oh and one more thing, as the last game ended I stated to the Seahawks players, "take care of business". I meant it because if the Seahawks don't adhere to my advice..............YOKOTA will beat U. As I lay down tonite all I can think about is RUN THA BALL, RUN THA BALL, RUN THA BALL............................Careful what U wish 4

Let me sign off on this so everybody knows just who this is, cause for 1, I ain't never ran from no team or man............
#55- aka, "MONSTER"
P.S.- THIS IS NOTHING PERSONAL, JUST STRICTLY BUSINESS, STRICTLY BUSINESS..........................TAKE IT HOW U WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew I'd strike a nerve!!

You just played my game, my friend. I got into your head and you exploded because you couldn't take it. It's ok, I promise. I will keep this one short and sweet, and a little simple.

Even a blind chicken finds a grain of corn every now and then!

USFJ-AFL=All Bundy League

Man you guys sound 100x worse than the HS kids who post on this blog. It's kind of embarassing to hear grown men acting like they're on the way to the NFL.

Lame Pigeiongirl

enough said... as for coaching aint easy, just sit back and watch the Jets bring it home. football is a passionate sport, if you dont like the way the players are building themselves up for a great game then quit reading.

Ha!

Was that seriously your attempt to get back at me? Pigeongirl? Is that the best you can do? ROFL! Leave the flaming to grown people k? What are the Jets going to bring home again? Well ya gotta earn it first, so we'll see if ya earn ya dues!

I never said I didn't like the way you're building yourselves up, I just can't stand the fact that you're a bunch of dummies that can't compose proper sentences and spell correctly, not to be a grammar nazi or anything but come on, some of you are 30 years old!! You should know how to spell words in the language you have known since day 1!

Coaching isn't hard if you know what you're doing. If you don't wanna get burned stay away from the fire my friend...make sure to come back harder in your next reply ok?

Hey Fellas!

Good to see a good rivalry relit in the heat of a champioship run. Allow me... Sam Kramer, LT for the WORLD FAMOUS... UNDISPUTED CHAMPIONS WITH A BELT THAT HAS A SPINNER...Yokosuka Seahawks! Mr. Sandman, #10, #32, and 92 know me as that big guy that just gets out there and tries what he can to protect the QB every play, and have respect for alot of the Jets that I see battle every play for the same love of the game. I'm an aquarius... enjoy long walks on the beach... playing football, and winning championships. I guess I am just spoiled, because since high school, that's all I've done. This is my 5th football season since, and I have 4 championships to my name. 3 in VA with the Prince William Monarchs, and 1 last year in spirit while I was underway. I'm here now, and I am doing whatever I can do because the teammates and coaches have given me this opportunity. Now enough of the love fest. I saw everything that was written, and some of it is pretty good stuff to motivate, and some is just crazy. I stand with my Hawks and I know that WHEN WE PLAY YOKOTA, we'll show the dedication that means a rematch with the Jets. Are we concerned about Yakota? Yes. We should be concerened because they don't quit, as do any of the teams we play. We don't quit either, and it doesn't matter how many we are up by. Yes, we had some things to work out internally, and yea... we lost a guy here, and a guy there... but it's all adversity everyone goes thru. What makes us different? Simple... we play as a family. I know that when I get to the line, my TB knows what hole to hit, and my QB knows where the WR's are. I know that #59... Tim (Been palying 16 years for the Hawks and demands respect) will lead us as a line, and take care of the 0 hole. I know that #97, Walker... is a beast. Was he fatigued? Probably. That guy played every snap both ways and special teamm! What more can you ask of a guy? #60... Jimmy? That's my dude. Jimmy can play anywhere, and I am honored to be up there with him. He's a hard nosed guy that just loves being out there. They all get "it". Verton... Pratt... I'm blessed to be there with those guys because I go out there knowing I can be replaced, and every play, I make it a point to show them I belong. They all understand that getting down in a stance and blowing off on a guy that is doing the same is the ultimate showing of what we as men are tought. Prevail. Win the battle. You wanna see heart on this team? You'll see it on the 30th when we RECLAIM what you are trying to take from us. When all the dust settles, it will be us that dug deeper, ran alittle faster, and held our blocks alittle longer. We LOVE THIS TEAM. Talk to Geno about bringing his kids to practice so he doesn't miss one. Not one. Talk to coaches that are physically hurting, but still come out to make sure we're ready. We are ready. We've been ready. We are a running team, and we will do that. It doesn't matter who's in the middle. You and I have met alot over the year, and I respect you alot. I know what you go thru, and I know alot of you guys personnally thru our talks about the game, and the league. I do wish you guys luck, and after we get thru with Yokota next week, It's full bore with nothing but a trophy in mind. We take it personal. We have to take it personal. It's OUR trophy. It's OUR championship, and we haven't gone away. We're just recircling the wagons, and we're not happy with our situation we put ourselves in. We don't like traveling with 18. We don't like being the underdog. But you know what? It makes us stronger. It brings a core group of guys together for one common goal. Make this year special. Make this the year the Seahawks earned everything that we have. Forget the field. Forget the new jerseys... we feel left out on our field sometimes too. We didn't ask or pay for it, and I don't mind the dirt. I just want to go out there with my Hawk family, and for 4 quarters, say, "we ran the ball up the middle, we passed at will, and we did all the little things that champions do". Then we'll raise OUR trophy up, and bask in the glory that is the championship we have our hands on. Sandman, I respect you, I look forward to seeing you again on the 30th, and I hope you don't take this personal either, but this trophy comes thru Yokosuka. You have to take it from us, and we're not letting go. The mistakes that we made to give you the games will be omitted, and we'll all be on the same page. We won't look for excuses, and we won't look for a way out. Yokota will feel it next week, and you know we're gonna bring wood, and know you will too. Clash of the Titans baby... We ain't done.

Fellas, see ya at practice. You know I'll be there.

reality

Sam, that wall of text was murder to read dude!!

Lets take a look into reality for a moment.

When we drove up to Misawa in vans the first time this year, I played center for that game. For those of you that were there, you can easily guess that I had the worst game of my life. I don't remember the exact number of bad snaps, but it was outrageous. Something like 8 or 9. I took the weight of that loss on my shoulders and carried it all the way home with me. Our team does everything we can to prepare, and my poor play efffectively took away every opportunity for success away from us. Misawa just played -->average<-- football, but was in the right place at the right time.
Once the snowball of mistakes starting rolling downhill, it was very difficult to stop. I own that loss and my team knows how I feel about it. I ate alone that night and didn't say a word to anyone the entire ride back. Are we going to hear any Jets brag about how lucky they were to be handed (what was the exact number?) 4 turnovers?

I didn't play in the last game, so fast foward to today.

After we run over Yokota, I will be happy to come back to Misawa to play.
1). it's going to be cooler.
2). the trip can actually be a blast! (the lineman van gets the best mileage because of the aerodynamics).
