Petty meet: Records fall, Kadena sweeps at record gathering

Try this on for size: 14 teams, representing 16 schools, more than 300 athletes represented. The largest gathering of Pacific high school track and field athletes ever assembled.

Six records fell, two on Friday, four more on Saturday. And they weren't just topped; they were demolished, each and every one. One race came down to one-one thousandth of a second, the girls 100 hurdles. And for the first time in meet history, one school, Kadena, swept both team titles.

What a fun two days! But how, oh how, can next month's Kanto Plain Invitational ever top that?

It was astonishing

The petty was amazing and unpredictable for some races. There were new faces that took gold medals. I'm surprised a FE runner from STC wasn't mentioned before petty started in your article.

"The other DOD component is the Seoul Track Club, led by Army Col. Kevin Madden. It’s comprised of athletes from Seoul, Osan and Daegu American, mainly middle- and long-distance runners such as John Lohr, Kiersten Pak-Blyzniuk and Hannah Boeman, and thrower Mark Lieberg."

She placed 6th in FE in Okinawa this season in cross country, she didn't do too well in petty based on her cross country stats but who knows what she will bring to Kanto. This will be another exciting meet to look forward to.
