Taegu finds its offense; Guam High still seeking theirs; Zama closes on high note
Posted October 26th, 2007 by Dave OrnauerTaegu American's Friday night 36-0 shellacking of Osan American in effect put Robert D. Edgren on notice: The Warriors do have an offense.
Try 384 yards' worth, on the ground alone. Angel Hickman 205 of them, Antonio Harris 123 of them, with two touchdowns each. Trey Griffin and Brandon Harris each contributed a rushing touchdown.
That compares favourably with Edgren's multiple-skills position package. Andrew Blankenship and Josh McDonald are more straight-ahead runners than anything, but you talk about a sweet complement for the ever-shifty, ever-dangerous Jacque Moton and "that guy," Zach Latimore.
But lest we forget, Taegu has allowed just nine points in its last four games.
Yes, Taegu will have its hands full keeping Latimore and Moton in check. "They're playmakers. You'd better know where they are on the field at all times," coach Chris Waite told me earlier this season.
Likewise, Edgren better keep its watchful peepers on the likes of Harris and Hickman. Pick your poison. Ornauer still goes with the defending champion Eagles 17-15 as his pick.
I'm sure Guam High coach Brandon Miller would love a tip or two from Taegu coach Ken Walter about how to get an offense to fire on all cylinders. Miller's Panthers proved their defensive worth, holding Father Duenas Memorial to eight points, a season low. But the Friars didn't permit Guam High past its own 49-yard line.
You can bet the Zama American Trojans can't wait for the start of two-a-day practices Aug. 11, 2008. Ending the season by spoiling Nile C. Kinnick's homecoming will do that to a team, not to mention finishing 4-4, Zama's best ledger since going 7-3 in 2003.

You'd be making a big mistake to underestimate Taegu.
They got some heavy hitters and a Defence hard to get by. Lets just say Edgrens going to be a really good game.
Edgren
Edgren is still a team on the rise. Last years championship win has them hungry for more. the eagles defense are notorious for holding stud backs to minimal yards and thats what they will be looking for this game. the eagle offense boasts one of the most exciting backfields in in the pacific, with zach latimore and jacque moton. they are complimented by power backs andrew blankenship and josh mcdonald. this game will be good but expect the eagles to come out on top with the "W".
HUSH HUSH!
I've been checking the blog twice daily and no one has any NEW comments or predictions....makes for a boring day :) Where's are the hype?!!!
Well...here's my picks....
Yokota 38 / Guam High 7
Kadena 28 / Seoul 14
Taegu 17/ Edgren 14
Picks
No hype here, maybe a little:)
Yokota 21 / Guam High 14
Kadena 35 / Seoul 7
Edgren 21 / Taegu 7
Edgren has all the tools, if they are used correctly the score could be higher in there favor. The Eagles have yet to get on track for a whole game. Sticking to a solid game plan and not panicking when momentum shifts is the key.
The Eagles are well rested and the Fantastic-4 of Lattimore, Moten, McDonald and Blankenship are ready rumble. The Eagles defense led by the "Bond Bomber" Drew Holder is ready to PLANT some QB's!
Game on.
hahaha
im not going to make any predictions cause jmac has said it all
having played for the eagles in the past id say the way they are playing now is the best by far in so many seasons. they will come away with the victory
Seniors Reflect
For those seniors who still have one football game left in the basket, it's time to reflect and cherish the moment. This is, for most you, your last game of high school football in your life. Enjoy your last few practices with your teamates and coaches...talk about the past seasons, great plays, big wins and fun times on the road trips. How much ice cream and ramen did you really eat, how long did you hold it:) Don't leave anything in the tank...on the field, play your best game and leave feeling satisfied...after all this is your last game...Most importantly...HAVE FUN!
Remember the days...
I agree with the "Seniors reflect" blog. This weekends games are big and very important right now, but in the long, long run they will last as memories. For all the players I hope you have fun, but especially for the Seniors relish in the moment. Enjoy your last week or two (for those going onto the Class AA finals) of practices and give it your all in the game. No matter the outcome of the game maintain a good sportsmanship attitude.
Picks
Well since 2nd time feels there is no hype...i am about to hype the whole weekend up.
In the battle of the Panthers, the big dog or in this instance, cat, stays on top. Yokota wins big and easy at Guams home. 35-7
Well on the other island, the Black and Gold Panthers eat a little "Seoul Food" and the main dish is Falcon. Kadena wins in a defensive battle 21-14
Last but not least. For all of the marbles in Class A. Edgren against Tageu. I dont know much about Tageu but from the great season, and talent that the eagles have. I am going with Edgren 21-3
