What we learned in USFJ-AFL Week 7.0

Musings, mutterings and the occasional schmahts as we near July and the U.S. Forces Japan-American Football League playoffs:

-- Memo to defensive coaches: Put a couple of bodies on No. 5 for Yokota. Kevin Fortin leads the Warriors in yards and touchdowns; he added a pair of sixes from 5 and 80 yards out in Yokota's 12-6 win over Torii Station on Saturday at Yokota High School's Bonk Field.

-- Memo to offensive coordinators: Do NOT -- repeat -- NOT throw the ball in the direction of No. 9 for Yokota. Frederick Guild now has seven interceptions in the Warriors' last two games. And he could have had more had he not dropped a pair of bunnies.

-- Memo to coaches in general: Keep the ball out of Torii's hands in the waning minutes of a game. Their last two starts, Saturday's loss at Yokota and an 8-6 defeat June 20 at Kadena, Torii drove the ball a total of 189 yards on two possessions in the closing minutes. THISclose to beating Kadena and made a game of it against the Warriors.

-- Playoffs three weeks away and it still looks wide open.

I think that team Yokota has one of the best defenses I've seen in the Kanto Plains in along time or since 2007. Which goes back to the old saying "offense wins games, but defense wins championships." Not to mention their offensive ground game with newcomers Fortin, Jones and a couple of vets. This team has the potential to shake up things. I can't wait until playoffs!

I agree that Yokosuka is a formidable team, but that was before the WARRIORS reinstated Guild to free-safety and before Fortin started to receive the bulk of the carries.

its funny,,that you can think that an 0-5 team has the opportunity to win the championship,, if you think about it.. torii 3 plays away from being 3-2,mistakes can kill you,especially at the most inopportune times..but we fix that 1 thing and its a different season..the mistakes go away with practice.. consistency...repetiton..dont be surprise when this happen,, im just going to say i told you so..

I see alot of chatter out here, but I see nothing from the Marines. Aren't they undefeated also. I look at the standing and their defensive stats are among the best. Well i'll be at the game tonight for the Marines vs Airforce. I think the Marines will take it easily. I can't wait until they play Yokosuka.

You are right Mr. 2 Cents; but they are undefeated because they backed out on their games in the North Division and I don't see too many teams from the Southern Division breaking they're necks to see what the competition is like up north. If we can make it to our games down south what's wrong with the South Division (excluding Torii Station) making it to their games in the north. All I have to say is "Play like you want it," that means take on all challenges. Foster and Kadena have been running from the games up in the Northen Division. My 2 cents!

J-Wat,
If you want to hear my 2 cents, or if you dont, here it is: No one up North should be running they mouth about a championship except the Seahawks. They're the only team that has shown that they belong in pads. When it comes down to it Foster and Yokosuka are the only teams that matter. The warriors are stuck in the Northern Divisions wake. Foster will be on Mainland July 18th. Please come by and see what you're starting up. Our team is a sleeping giant. No one has seen us on all cylindars yet. Best believe wether we bring 11 or 37 players to the game star will be out for sure. This will be the best game of the season by far. We coming to play. After reading all these blogs Im ready to put it down. I just hope that your team can hold together long enough to play in the playoffs. I mean losing cant be easy.

Man its crazy!!!

We bout to show all the teams how we go down to anyone field with only maybe 15 player and still win.

And when we do i dont never want to hear the excuse of " the only reason we lost is because we only had 17 players ". TP6 is only one man, but TP6 never have excuses for losing. TP6 would love to play a game with less players just to show how good The Camp Foster Bulldogs really is. TP6 is saying, we are the best team period. Plus look at Yokosuka QB's.... Enough said! TP6 out! Bulldogs the best defense in USFJ-AFL and offense... We the best team period. TP6 out!
