List of links for counseling help
Posted March 24th, 2008 by Terri Barnes in
Lately in Spouse Calls, PTSD and resources for families affected by it have been frequent topics. The March 23 Spouse Calls was about resources for military families in need of counseling for any issues.
For this post, I wanted to place links for all the counseling information and resources I've recently covered in one convenient place. Just click on the blue letters to use the links:
- Spouse Calls blog post about resources from Operation Homefront.
- Column with more indepth information about the Wounded Warrior Wives project of Operation Homefront. (This column also includes a list of blogs that are especially for spouses of PTSD sufferers.)
- Spouse Calls blog post about confidential counseling options provided by the military.
- Spouse Calls column featuring comments from PTSD bloggers.
- Another column on an informative book about PTSD, "Back From the Front," and comments from the author, Dr. Aphrodite Matsakis, a psychologist who has worked with veterans and their families for 30 years.

Foundation plans network of civilian counselors
An article in the May 20 Stars and Stripes by Leo Shane (click here to read) gives information about a new effort on the part of civilian mental health experts to provide care for combat veterans and their their families.
The Give an Hour Foundation, funded by private grants and donated care, plans to establish a nationwide network of psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and counselors, which will provide free care to veterans and their families.
