By spouses for spouses

If you didn't see the Scene magazine in the Mar. 16 Stars and Stripes, you missed a two-page spread about books that speak to the lives of military spouses and their families. But you can still access them right here:

  • Christine Reyna Maxwell's "Ultimate Volunteer Guidebook for Young People" began as a list of charitable activities she hoped to do with her young daughter. Christina, who lives in Wiesbaden, Germany, says the profits from her book will go to charities she supports. Read the Stripes story by Matt Millham.
  • Nancy Gaskins, whose Army husband was wounded in Iraq, wrote "Live Like You Are Dying: How to Transform Your Life in 30 Days," based on self-help seminars she created especially for military spouses. Nancy describes how she and her husband started from difficult circumstances to build successful family lives and careers. Read the Stripes story by Seth Robson.
  • Chrisy Krueger, another Army wife, has written a book titled "Vino in Vo," a fictional account of military wives stationed in Vicenza, Italy. Chrisy has drawn from some of her own experiences and some from fellow spouses to create it. Read the Stripes story by Kent Harris.
