Spouse Calls

Join the conversation with Stripes columnist Terri Barnes, as she explores issues relevant to the lives of military spouses.

Tune in to spouses on internet radio

The voices of military spouses can be heard around the world via internet radio. For the August 12 Spouse Calls, I talked to the women behind three online pod casts: Navy Wife Radio, Army Wife Talk Radio and Military Spouse Talk Radio.

Important issues, encouragement and humorous stories all make appearances on these programs. Celebrity guests are not unusual, but most feature military spouses who have something to share with the spouse community.

  • Military Spouse Talk Radio: www.militaryspousetalkradio.com. Shows currently archived. Live broadcasts scheduled to begin in October. Host Victoria Parham also has a video sharing site for military spouses, as well as running her own virtual consulting business.
  • Navy Wife Radio: www.submarinewife.com. Live on Tuesdays, 9 p.m. EST. Marie Hobson and Wendy Poling are working on a new Web site for their programs and blogs. They are planning a live event this fall with Navy wife and author, Sarah Smiley. "Operation Dinner Out" is set for Oct. 6 in Jacksonville, Fla.
  • Army Wife Talk Radio: www.armywifetalkradio.com Live on Mondays, 8 p.m. EST. Tara Crooks and her co-host Star Henderson also maintain a blog at their site. Tara is currently on leave to have her second baby. (Congratulations to the Crooks family!)

Having lived in Frankfurt years ago and visited Ramstein on MANY occasions I always remember my time in that area with great fondness. Great food, great shopping, great travel opps, great shopping, oh gosh....I need a mac flight!!
