Election Day may be more than a month away, but for those of us living overseas, it is time to think about voting.
If you have registered, but have not received your ballot yet, it may be time for Plan B.
A nonprofit organization, the Overseas Voting Foundation, has created an online tool to help Americans overseas to register and receive their ballots. The foundation, seconded by the Department of Defense, recommends this tool for voters who have not received their ballots before the beginning of October.
Find the tool at: www.overseasvotefoundation.org
and read more about the foundation in this Stripes story by Geoff Ziezulewicz:

Those of us in military families should take a keen interest in the process of choosing our nations leaders, including the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces -- our president.
- Our lives are directly affected by the president's decisions.
- Our loved ones carry on the tradition of defending our freedoms, including the freedom to choose our leaders democratically.
- Our lives are examples of the responsibilities, as well as the privileges of American citizenship.
Please study the issues and mark your ballot. Stand up and be counted when it counts.

Voting survey
The Overseas Vote Foundation is conducting a survey to determine the effectiveness of absentee voting. I took the survey this week. It takes only a couple of minutes and is very user friendly.
The 2008 Overseas Vote Foundation Post Election Survey is intended to help provide feedback to the Overseas Vote Foundation and other organizations that are working to improve the U.S. overseas and military absentee voting process.
